Where to eat for dinner after my day at Animal Kingdom?

I am trying to figure out which restaurant to book after my day at Animal Kingdom. The park closes early anyway so it can be at any resort, It will be our last day at WDW and I wanted to make it a memorable night. We will be just my husband and I and our 2 boys (3 and 7). We are on the dining plan. We don't have park hoppers so it has to either be in AK or any of WDW resorts.

We were first considering just eating at Tusker House for dinner but thought it would make for a boring evening afterwards. We have done Boma's several times but we would have skipped it this time for the AKL is really far from our resorts and the transportation back is a hassle, plus it is repetitive.

I actually booked Whispering Canyon Cafe for now because we have never seen the Wilderness lodge and we were curious. Plus I thought the boat ride to MK during fireworks would be nice and then we could bus back to resort from there. However, I am not sure about the the food selection and there seems to be many mixed reviews. So now I am second guessing myself.

We have already these restaurants reserved on other night:
T-REX
Ohana
California Grill

Any suggestion or feed-back would be great!
Thanks

How about the HDDR? A great dinner show and IMO a great way to end a WDW vacation.

I actually wanted to go there but my husband is not too keen on interactive shows, however, he will go if push comes to shove;)
I was just worried about my 3 year old. Would enjoy it or is it more geared towards older kids? I also have to use up 2 dining credits which is fine but is it worth it?

We are actually having a late dinner at Artist Point (we want to go back to our resort to shower) in WL after our day at AK. That may be a good choice...check out their menu at www.allears.netpixiedust:
29 trips to Disney World and counting...next stop POFQ March 2014

My kids love Whispering Canyon... but there are antics- so warn your DH! The kids love moving ketchup around the restaurant and thus the restaurant is affectionately known as the Ketchup restaurant in our house. As a mom of boys, I think you made a good choice here. If the menu appeals, its a good selection on the DDP

Watching the fireworks from the boat to MK is an amazing view, but it's pretty hard to time it to happen. The boats don't necessarily run on a set schedule, so one might not be going from WL to MK at the right time. You can, however, also watch the fireworks from any of the MK resorts and the TTC. I like the Poly beach view and the GF boat dock view, both of which are open to the public.

I think WCC is a fine choice especially if it gives you an excuse to check out the WL. If the menu doesn't appeal to you, then I would look at other places. If it's just other people's reviews, I'd still go with an open mind and see for yourself. If you ruled out places that get mixed reviews here on the Disboard, you'd pretty much only have V&A as a choice.

If you want to stay at AK, then there is Tusker House or Rainforest Cafe. You already have T-Rex, so Rainforest might be a little to similar, but I do like the food.

There is also DTD. I highly recommend Raglan Road for the food. In the evenings they also have a live band and Irish dancing.

We usually go to Boma on our Animal Kingdom day b/c the bus ride is the shortest from one to the other. Not that we wouldn't go out of our way to eat at Boma (WE TOTALLY WOULD) but we are into saving time when we can.

I think Raglan Road is super yummm and Downtown Disney is a great place to spend your last night at WDW!

Personally I would wait on HDDR until your kids are older. We took ours at 9 and 7 and they loved it because they were old enough to get the corny humor.

I think WCC is a great choice (definitely walk around the WL!).

I think dinner at Ohana then a walk down to the Poly beach to watch the fireworks would be a great way to end your trip!

We have tried Whispering Canyon for breakfast & really enjoy it. We are trying Trails End (buffet @ Fort Wilderness) next month for the 1st time. If your kid's have any interest in checking out Fort Wilderness, it may be an option? Boat access to MK & viewing for electrical parade.

We did this exact thing on our last trip. Went to AK till about 3 then rested and ate at WCC that evening. It was a fun atmosphere and excellent food. My 4 yo thought it was lots of fun. And WL is gorgeous!

There's also the Chip & Dale singalong show and movie at Fort Wilderness. There's lots of things you can do make a night of it if you want to.

Yes, that is what I thought! I will wait until the little one is older. I really wanted to see WL, you know, check it out for future trips!;)

Stick with WCC then....the WL is nice, and the food is good...the"antics"can be a bit irritating, but my 2 DD's 5+6 at the time had fun with it,Don't think you can go wrong here.;) Besides...that "bottomless"milkshake was really good,...and filling.::yes::

Jiko is one of the best places to go. We went for my birthday this year and it was amazing. Good service, and my kids had a great time too.

With AK always closing early and quite honestly if you get there early you will finish the park before closing, we always opted to eat at one of the resorts on that day for dinner. WL has a fine dining option at AP and loud rowdy kid friendly fun at WC. There are many dining options at the Boardwalk also. I never tried it but I also hear Shulas at the Swan is an awesome steakhouse.

Yep, we ate at WCC back in 2003 and walked around the WL thinking wow, wouldn't it be awesome to stay here some day? Then in 2011 we got a 40% off pin and decided to go for it. Loved it!
