Hi Friends,

We've been to Disney several times. I'm having a hard time deciding where to eat when we visit DHS. We've eaten at all the restaurants inside the park, and though they are fine, I don't just LOVE any one, but I'm wondering about those outside. How far is the walk to Boardwalk? How long by boat? It's been a few years since we went to Flying Fish, and we went from Epcot that trip, so I've never traveled it from DHS. What else could we try?

Thanks in advance

Christy

Unless there is a boat about to pull into the DHS dock, it will usually be quicker to walk to the Boardwalk from DHS. It's about a 20 minute walk, depending on the speed you walk. When we have taken the boat, we get off at the Swan/Dolphin and then walk to the Boardwalk (it's about 8 minutes to the Swan/Dolphin by boat and then a 3 minute walk to the Boardwalk). Walking from the Swan/Dolphin to the Boardwalk is not much, if any, faster than just taking the boat to the Boardwalk (we just like that little walk).

Flying Fish is fantastic (for us it ties Citricos on the top of our list of restaurants that accept the dining plan). If you are not looking for a Signature, Cape May at the Beach Club is one of the better dinner buffets on property. Shula's and bluezoo at the Dolphin are the cream of the crop of restaurants (but neither accept the dining plan and you may not be comfortable in park attire at either).

The walk is really quick to and from Epcot or DHS to the Boardwalk. We love Yachtman's Steakhouse but that is a signature, worth it in my opinion. We have also walked or taken the bus to Epcot for dinner while at DHS. We love Epcot restaurants so we often make a trip to the park just for dinner.
Oh, and I would never take the boat. Way to slow loading and unloading. It is a nice ride though if you want to relax for a bit but it is very time consuming.

Since you didn't necessarily mention the Disney Dining Plan, you may actually want to try one of the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin. While I haven't eaten at them, I know people that swear by Shula's and Il Mulino (Italian cuisine).

www.swandolphinrestaurants.com for info on their Signature, Casual and Quick Service options.

And they would actually be closer, technically speaking, than the Boardwalk.

Having said that, Flying Fish and Yachtsman are our two favorite restaurants in all of the World.

No, we're not staying on property this time, since there's 13 of us, a house at WH was a better option, so DDP doesn't factor in. I wish I loved something at DHS, and none of the restaurants are bad, just not outstanding, IMHO.

I'd love to try Yachtsman. The party size is too big to book online, so I'll have to call.

Question...if I make dinner ressies for after park closes at 7pm, then what about parking? Should I park my vehicle at Yacht club earlier in the day, prior to park closing, and then walk to restaurant after we leave the park, or should I just plan to leave the park early enough to get to ressie at restaurant? I'm questioning because we will definitely want to stay long enough to enjoy Osborne Lights.

Thanks!

Good question about parking at HS. That, I do not know.

As a suggestion, I would consider parking at the Boardwalk. It's a shorter walk into DHS in the morning, is a short stroll from YC, and will definitely be open that late at night. And one of our favorite things to do after dinner in the area is to walk off dinner along the Boardwalk and watch some of the really neat entertainment!
