First of all, thanks so much for your responses! My husband and I have been searching the hotels nearby for a couple of days now and we are looking for some opinions. We have been to Disneyland two times. The first time we stayed at the Camelot and we weren't impressed. The last time we stayed at the DL Hotel for two nights and then the Hyatt for the other two. Hyatt was nice, but a little far away.

Here is what we are looking for: LOCATION LOCATION:) I will be 6 months pregnant and at the end of the day I will want to have a short walk!!

Nice Swimming pool with an area for swimmers and toddlers.

So I guess what I am asking is without spending $1000 dollars (which I would love to do and just stay at the Grand Californian) where is the closest hotel to Disney with the best amenities?

Thanks again for your help!

Many people here seem to like Hojo's. You may want to search "hojo's" you will find many posts.

If you don't want to stay at one of the 3 Disney hotels, then I would suggest the Park Vue Inn. Right across the street, and really a nice place. We have stayed there twice and would be staying there again in March if we weren't staying at the GC.

Ramada Maingate is remodeling thier pool. It will come out with a kid water play area so it might be worth looking into if you trip is a ways out.

Hojo's has great reviews, and I was looking at it as an option for our trip because they are offering a AAA rate for about $850 a room for a week that has bunkbeds, a rollaway bed, and a king size bed. Plus the pool really is more like a mini water park. I can't remember what the regular rate is without being a AAA member, but there is always the option of an entertainment card which I hear reduces the rate at that particular hotel.

You can also receive 15% off of your room rate (not combined with other discounts) just for letting them know you are a DISboard member. You would phone them directly and ask for that rate. I think Hojo's is the best - the beds are great too, and that is surely something you require when you are 6 mos. pregnant! :)

I think you can get better prices with the entainment card.. see if your dates are on the list

so its 15% not combined.. so you could do this if dates were blacked out

I can't get the entertainment rate to work... it just doesn't show up when I put in the code. So I guess there aren't ET rates for July? Is there a list of dates somewhere?

On Harbor, anywhere between the Howard Johnson and the Ramada Main Gate I would recommend. All along the strip of hotels where the crosswalk to the entrance of Disneyland is. All minute walks to the main gate. Ive stayed at the Howard Johnson, the Tropicana, and the Carousel. Friends have stayed at the Park Vue and said it was basic, but clean and very decent. My personal favorite is the Tropicana. Here is a good map.

An even better map is the google Satellite map. Just double click the page to zoom in.

Hojos is great, especially with little ones. The walk isn't far, but we found it seemed miles away at the end of a long day walking around the park! We have stayed at the Park Vue as well, and the location really cannot be beat! We were on the first floor, and basically walked out our front door and were right at the walkway to Disneyland. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the hotels along that stretch!

Agreed! Saves money and time on having to take and wait for shuttles too. And you can walk back to your hotel at any given point during the day and have a nap, and walk back within minutes.

But if you go durning her firtst break the beggining of October is all open for basically $100 a night, and you'd get to see Halloween Disney? :confused3

HoJo doesn't post Ent Rates for June-August until much much closer to those dates. We did stay at the HoJo each of those months with the Ent Rate BUT we had to book them last minute. You can book your room and if they do post the dates simply call them and ask for In House Reservations, they can help you adjust the room rates for the available nights at that time. :)
Also, they have the water play area BUT they also have a regular pool. Just wanted to point that out. :)
