OK, My trip is booked (8/25-9/1) and we are booked for Port Orleans-Riverside. My questions is: Where should I try and get my room at? I have never stayed or visited this resort before. My party is 3 adults. Any and all ideas and info would be appreciated!

There is a very well maintained POR thread, with maps showing the different locations.

You can check out the two different themes; one is the mansions and the second is the AB or alligator bayou. The mansions are a bit more upscale and the bayou is more rustic.

You didn't note what booking category you are in, but if you go to the thread and you pull up the map of the resort, Andre has noted which rooms are which booking category. That will also give you an idea of what areas most might appeal to you, with the category you booked.

In general, most of the Mansions are closer to the Food Court, pool, etc. Alligator Bayou is quieter, but a bit farther from the Food Court than the mansions. Definitely take a look at the FAQ thread (and the map, of course). There are some nice pics of each section in the FAQ, and they'll give you a better idea.

We stayed in Magnolia bend section of the mansions and it couldn't have been any more perfect. So close to everything. Bus , main pool, main bldg, movies at night, boat to DTD

Check out the Port Orleans Riverside thread as someone mentioned. Also check out PortOrleans.org, an awesome site where much of the info comes from for these threads.

Where depends on a lot of things: Do you care about style of buildings and rooms? There are two. Walking distance - short or long? Near a pool or away? Near a parking lot or away? Near the food court?

A lot of people choose preferred rooms or other rooms close to the food court and/or the bus stop.

I choose building 26 precisely because it is in the woods and not near a pool. I wanted privacy and don't care about walking. :cool2:

We LOVE the Alligator Bayou section.

The buildings are only 2 stories in AB, making it quieter. There are no elevators dinging away half the night. The foliage seems to keep it cooler & shadier there.

No matter where you stay - POR is a GREAT resort! Enjoy your stay! :goodvibes

We stayed in AB and LOVED it! It was so quiet and I like how lush that area is.

Actually the AB building 14 & 18 are preferred buildings & are super close to the food court & bus stop. We stayed in both buildings during 2 different trips in April & loved it. Also there's a quiet pool right there by 18 that was nice for DH & I to relax in.

If you stay in the Alligator Bayou section, request building 16. It's right next to the preferred buildings, a shorter walk to the pool, lobby and food, and you dont have to pay for the upgrade to preferred.

We stayed in room 1621 - close to the quite pool too.

My fav locations are either Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace close to Old Man Island bridge. I like the garden view category.
Because there are no balconies I don't bother with water view.
I also request upper floor.
We think the Mansions are very peaceful and pretty. Prob more quiet because the larger families with 3 children because of the extra bed are all in the AB section ;)
In 3 stays never heard the elevator

Ok, we might be a little weird, but we font kind to be near everything and prefer it quiet and calm so we always request buildings 38 and 39. You cut through the pool area and you are at the food court in moments, use to bus stop but you can't hear the buses, quiet pool, laundry facility, it is like a vacation in a vacation.
