where is the outrage now?

If the note was placed there by the Obama campaign on purpose then the student was in on it and the press fell for it. That is unless they are in on the plot too. The note sounds a bit too perfect but I can't imagine that he placed it there with the intention that it would be published.

This is all very odd.

why is it too perfect???

jeesh...if you had asked me yesterday to pray for obama.. it would have been incredibly similar.......

Oh of course no one would ever pray for wisdom....protection....

it had to be set up.......:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I guess I don't understand the outrage. Is there an expectation of privacy for your litter?
But this quote brings me back to a question I often wonder about:

Does America have any holy places or sacred cities or anything like that? I know it's a weapon the media always likes to use against America. It seems especially in Iraq - every single city is reported as being a "holy city" or a "sacred city" and how dare we even tread on that ground.

Does America have any such places?

For your information, since you are clearly uninformed, it is common practice for people to leave prayers in the wall. It's expected that people will do that. And the prayers are supposed to be in private since they are in between the worshipper and G-d.

Sorry, I didn't realize Obama is Jewish.

One doesn't have to be Jewish to worship at the Wall or leave prayers there. I can think of many non-Jews I know who have left prayers there. Again, you are clearly uninformed.

I am just going out on a little limb guessing that Obama didn't write anything that he wouldn't be comfortable letting the WORLD know. ;)

I guess that you're right. I was thinking that mine would be more personal but that's just me and being at such a place might have changed my style anyway.

I still can't see all of those people I already mentioned as being in on some kind of plot. That's ridiculous IMO. Does anyone really believe that a student and the press would both help Obama out with a set up?

I am just going out on a little limb guessing that Obama didn't write anything that he wouldn't be comfortable letting the WORLD know. ;)

Dawn, what would YOUR note say?

I'll go out on a limb and say it would have something to do with a sea of glass and all the peoples you don't like. ;)

Again, why am I the focus of your curiosity? I don't wonder about YOU? I know you might be "surprised" but I will bet that you don't know that there are a whole lot of people who just wait to see what my comments are so they can COMMENT ON THEM!!! Are you one of my groupies? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yeah, that is the really diabolical part of this whole thing  ......hehe joke

I was half- expecting it to read:

"Hi, you don't know me and I really don't know you very well. I am just going to put this piece of paper on the wall real quick while everybody in the entire world is watching me and then go have a sandwich on the plane in transit to Berlin. Good luck with that whole sub-continent of people who are trying to kill your people. Don't ask me for help though. I'm just here to talk."

We have agreed twice, and you never fail to horrify me with your posts.

In addition the sheer NUMBER of your hate threads means you attract a lot of attention from many posters on the DISBoards.

But I also come here to call you on your posted beliefs; I don't talk behind your back. I figure you need to be able to retort in your own defense.

You have a very aggressive posting style, but you don't like it when someone gives you back your attitude, I've noticed. It's kinda like when you stand up to a bully. You rarely seem to be more than a bully. You have a larger than life persona, and it seems all about offense.

You asked. :confused3 Did you really think you'd never get an appropriate response to your snarkiness?

It is not okay for other people to snoop in these prayers - they are between the person and their creator. It would be just as wrong if this happened to McCain or anyone else, for what it's worth. It's common knowledge that the prayers left here are private. The rabbi who supervises the wall has denounced this act and says that it is "forbidden" to read these prayers. http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1826734,00.html?cnn=yes

I don't understand why people automatically assume that this would be some elaborate set-up by the campaign. Everything both candidates do is under scrutiny. It's not unreasonable that someone would be watching very carefully, wanting to retrieve his message and be the one who put it in the media - nor is it unreasonable that this might be a legitimate prayer for Obama to make. I understand not liking a candidate's platforms, but to suggest that he or his campaign set this up is a big stretch, IMO.

I don't think I am snarky at all. I think I am direct. What you consider "hate threads", I consider "topics". Obviously it gets people talking. I have seen LOTS of bullies, and I am no bully. The bullies exist elsewhere. If I am "larger than life", its other people's perceptions, and not of my own creation. If you met me, you would probably like me. I am actually a very nice, likable person. ;)

You should already know the OS have this uncontrollable urge to be groupies.

Honestly, Dawn, I am surprised when I do like you. Your posts are normally so incredibly over the top with negative feelings they are a turnoff, usually. I'm not saying I'm the pixie dust fairy myself :rotfl: but it is hard to hear your points many times over the weight of your outrageous statements.

As an unaffiliated voter, I'd like to have a real choice. This saber rattling and "OBAMA WILL EAT YOUR CHILLENS!!!" screeching doesn't make me think well of McCain or the Republican Party. Rove used emotionalism to Swiftboat and make Bush the last election's Messiah; I'm still gagging over that stench.

There are two candidates in this next election. Just because I agree more with the Democratic candidate's positions doesn't mean I have made up my mind or that I agree completely with the Democratic party. But it does point to the fact that the Republicans are going to have to give me more than the fact that they're the party of rich white people to buy my vote. I don't vote where I want my economic status to BE, I vote where I AM.

I hope this somehow persuades you to lay off all the craziness you've been posting. Free country, owned website, and all that, but hopefully something I've said gets through to you.

I do -want- to like you. I'm not saying I'll share my Girl Scout cookies or anything, but I do want to be able to coexist on here without having to take blood pressure medicine! :rotfl:

I don't think I ever posted that "Obama will eat your chillins", but I have posted what he said he would do; which is chilling enough; if you will pardon the pun. He will raise taxes on the most productive Americans. He will stifle investment with by doubling the capital gains tax, he will attempt to disarm America at at time when we need to do the opposite. If you think McCain is soft on immigration, he will open the flood gates. He believes in redistribution of wealth. He has said it directly and euphemistically. He is a leftist who is veering to the center to get elected. Most Americans do not feel that he will make a good Commander in Chief, you can google the polls. On the economy? He will be Jimmy Carter. If you lived through the Carter years and were happy with that, vote for Obama.

well the fact that the notes are buried....tells you something about the respect given to them.....

G-d's Name, as it is written in the Hebrew alphabet, is considered a sacred writing -- not to be torn, tossed in the garbage, etc. a writing containing the Name written in Hebrew must be buried according to Jewish law when it is no longer useful my syagogue has a special area to bury used prayerbooks and other sacred texts. the notes left in the Wall are treated with the same respect as other sacred texts.
