Where is the best place to see the shuttle without paying alot!

Hi,
I was just wondering where my family and I could go to watch the shuttle launch...I know we could pay to get in to KSC but would rather not. Is there any where else we could go to? I would think finding a great beach spot or something and making that a beach day would be great. This has always been a huge interest/desire to see a shuttle launch so i really don't want to miss this!

NASA has a short list of off-site viewing spots on their website:

I think Titusville is the next best area to view a launch - they have some parks that are popular for launch viewings.

we saw space launch in june of 2002 in a park in titusville it was great some one at cape canavial said to go there and we saw it all and it was free and easy to get out of

We just pulled off to the side of A1A at Titusville and parked. We were waiting in February 2003 for the landing that never happened due to the tragic loss. I was planning on watching the Discovery take off on May 15th when there but they have now moved the window to May 22-jun3

Someday I will see the shuttle but it has yet to happen for me.
