Other than the boat cruise, is Rose & Crown the best place to watch the Illuminations show?

:earsboy:Welcome to the DIS kemi!! :earsboy:

There are several other places that you can get a great view of Illuminations.A place we discovered and really like is on the deck that surrounds the outside of Tempura Kiku one of the restaurants in Japan.Inside is nice too but the music isn't piped in.

Showcase Plaza where Future World and World Showcase come together is a GEAT spot although people start staking out spots up to 2 hrs. prior to the show!

The bridge between Great Britian and France isn't bad.If it's open there's a little secluded circle down from this area that is a TERRIFIC viewing area.Sometimes this area is closed off for private parties.

We've also grabbed a table at the outdoor Mexican restaurant
Cantine de San Angel for a good view.

Another great place is right after the American Pavillion past the funnel cake kiosk towards Japan. There are benches there and a great view of Illuminations.

I thought it was an amazing show infront of Rose and Crown but I must also agree that by Japan, you can see the show great as well. Just stake out a spot early so that you can avoid heads and trees.

When we were there recently, we were just coming off the ride at Norway and walked straight ahead to the "fence". There were families already along it. We asked the family in front of us if it was a good place and they said they always stand there. We had a great talk with them (they were from Britain) and when Illuminations began (and all the way through) it looked like it was just for us. In the past, we have watched near America/Italy where there's a little aread that juts out a little into the water and that was great too.

My only advice--don't stand near trees! They will block your view of the fireworks more than you think.

We watched it from Germany along the fence to the right of the boat dock.

We have watched many times from the island between the two bridges that separate France and great Britain. It has(had) some planters that you could sit on while you waited. It is a good view and a bit more comfortable.
I have watched from the gondola landing in Italy and if you get up on one of the bridges leading to the landing you get a good view.
My last time I tried the upper deck at the Japan Pavillion right in the corner for a new and great view though it is a bit farhter away and the Tori Gate is in the way a little.
The closest and most spectacular, though not most comfortable, view was from the bridge over to Mexico that is to the right of the Cantina de san Angel. Need to nab this one early to be at the front and have the bridge to lean against.

Agree with the poster who put about the wind. Unless you want to be peering through a haze of smoke (or even worse, smelling it) for the whole performance, pay attention to which way the wind is blowing. Even the best spot in the world can be rubbish unless you do.

When we sat in the area right next to The Rose and Crown the wind blew the smoke and ashes right into us. So be ware of which way the wind is blowing, like others have mentioned.
