Does anyone know where the best place is to get a cup of coffee in DL, DCA or DTD? Is it all the same no matter where you go? We also enjoy espresso/latte etc. - are these all made the same throughout the resort as well? We LOVE coffee and just haven't found any we really like there. Perhaps we haven't gone to the right place:coffee:

Thanks!:)

I like to get my latte in the morning at the GC hotel, If I remember right it is in the Hearth stone lounge :thumbsup2

There is a bookstore in DTD that has a coffee shop that is open in the AM.

Also a coffeeshop in the DLH, right next to goofy's kitchen. They both have lattes, etc.

I would skip the Lattes and capachino's in the parks because they just don't taste right.

From what I saw, the DLR resorts do not use actual expresso machines just those pre-made machines. The Compass Bookstore cafe (I think that's what its called near DLH) makes drinks with espresso machines. I'm an "extra shot" person so I have to know these things.

All of DLR uses Nestcafe coffee because of a corporate sponsorship agreement with Nestle. (Nescacrap, I call it)

The only place to get anything other than Nescacrap in DLR is at the Compass Bookstore in DTD. I have read that they use Peet's coffee.

Being the coffee snob that I am, I bring my own beans/grinder and brew my own coffee in my hotel room and carry it into the park in a travel mug. :coffee:

lol, i operated the coffee cart for ODV and i usually DO ask if the coffee is made good and they always say its GOOOOOD!

:| Lattes and Cappacinos! Though just dont be an idiot and ask why your Cappacino is lite :P

Yep - Compass Bookstore was the only decent place we found for our morning espresso fix. I agree with DangerMouse -Nescacrap in the parks. The last time I tried a "mocha" from a cart in DL park, it was soooooooooooo unbelievably awful I spit out the mouthful (which I never do!) and threw the whole thing away (which I also hate to be wasteful).

I think if I remember correctly, Compass does use Peet's coffee - which is outstanding! Peet's is in a league waaaayyyyyyy above Starbuck's!

Compass Books is closest to DLH.

(another coffee snob - but if I'm paying that much, it better be worth it!)

Wow. I must have retarded taste buds or something. I like the mocha from the Blue Ribbon bakery.

I also like the Malibu Mocha Frappe from the Bakersfield Bakery in DCA. There is a lot of ice cream in it so you can't really taste the coffee very strong but I get one every time I take my son to the block party bash.

They roast beans at the Bakersfield Bakery in DCA so they don't just serve nescafe. Unless all that roasting is just for show and the beans they sell in DLR bags is just nescafe coffee.

Thanks for asking this! So glad to know about Compass Books.

Albort...by the cappucinos being lite, you mean that they are light in weight? If so, I've had the same experience when I was making espresso (not at Disney, though). Having to repeat the "formula" (1/3 espresso 1/3 milk 1/3 foam) to customers who expected a latte with some foam just never does satisfy the person, does it?:upsidedow

I vote for the Blue Ribbon Bakery on Main Street. I would stop by every night and grab a latte and thought it was "acceptable". It's definitely not made with a pre-made machine but rather with a real espresso machine. Just not as good as what you would get at SB. But for me, just walking around DL with a latte is a good thing. Kind of like how that Dreyer's ice cream tastes so good in a big ol' waffle cone at the Gibson Girl Parlor.

The best coffee at the DL resort can be found in my room when I make it in my french press with the coffee I brought from home.

I'm a drip sorta gal, not into espresso, and while Peet's is the best (period, not just at DL) for espresso, I've never cared for their drip coffee.

Last time we went down there, I called the hotel to ask if they were still serving the same coffee (I know, I know, obsessive). You could hear it in the girls voice that she hated the coffee, however 'we have many, many guests who ask where they can buy our coffee'. Uh-huh. Frightened me to no ends.

It's just surprising, Disney loves making a dollar. You'd think that they'd jump on the gourment coffee craze. CA especially needs a little stand dedicated to artisan coffees...it is part of California culture after all!

The coffee they roast in DCA is, in fact, Nescacrap beans.

I'll be dropping by your room, then. :upsidedow

Oh, you mean you won't be there in 13 days? :rotfl:

Am now thinking of bringing our "camping" french press (made of lexan plastic) and making our own...yum. Oh but I do love a latte!

If I was to bet... the bulk of the coffee snobs on here are NWers!! I'll take Peets, StarBs or Stumptown thank you! Guess I will be bringing our own (we have those travel mugs that have a built in press!) or going to Compass Books!

Thanks!

My coffee kit for travels anywhere outside the NW. Learned my lesson while doing a driving tour of the south a couple of years ago.

Plastic French Press
Hot Pot
Ground Beans
Coffee mug (can't trust that they won't have them, and eww, styrafoam)
Stirrers
Brown Sugar (I'm also a sugar snob)

I buy whole milk in a little carton wherever we are, and plop it in the fridge.

well, people dont really know WHAT Cappacino is... they often ask for a Ice Cappacino which cant be done since the foam will just all disappear when it touches Ice...

Esspresso is the same... people are like... this is it??? yes, its a shot...

This is probably a really dumb question, but if you want to make your own coffee (I have the beans and the French press), how do you heat the water? Is that what a "hot pot" is? If so, where do you get this item and how much does it cost? I brought my own beans when we vacationed in Hawaii, but the little hotel coffee pot did not really do it justice. I've been wondering ever since what kind of travel gizmo would heat water (kids like their cocoa, too) without taking up too much space in my suitcase.

We're staying at the DLH, so I'll likely just get my joe at Compass Bookstore, but for future trips I'd love to hear more about how everyone manages to make great coffee while traveling.

(I actually considered buying a tiny combo toaster oven/coffee pot from McFrugal's--$20-- so we could cook and make coffee in the hotel room :rotfl: My dh talked me down on that one  )

It was actually a major shock to me that the DLH didn't have a coffeemaker in the room. Its a standard at WDW and frankly at most hotel chains particularly those that have 3 and 4 star ratings. Why is this? It was the strangest thing about my stay there.

GCH had a little coffee maker in the room that we used, but we bring our grinder and beans. Agree with Compass books for espresso drinks, yum!

CoolPool, DLH has coffee makers but you have to request them! They have some ridiculous excuse about how much power is sucked by leaving one in every room. Huh. They're never plugged in anyway, and could it be worse than the blow dryer they have on the wall?
