Where is it in WDW that you can download your digital pics from your cameras?

I thought I heard that you can e-mail your digital pics from somewhere in WDW...is it your actual hotel that offers this service? I bought a new canon SLR 35mm camera with a zoom lens just for the parks, because I didn't want to worry about memory cards & recharging my digital camera...but if you can download the pics off your camera somehow, then it may be worth taking the Digicam???

Am I wrong in thinking I can download them to save to my computer without using a ton of memory cards? Wishful thinking here!

Hi

I will be taking my digital camera for my trip in December. I have always taken my 35mm. As I understand it, there are two places in WDW to have your pictures burned to a CD. One is at the Kodak place @ Epcot and the other is Expedition Hall on Main Street. I am not sure if that is the right name of it or not, someone will correct me if I am wrong. But its the place where you pick up the photos the pros take of you.

I have two memory cards. One with 128mb and another with 60mb. That should be plenty for me. I use the medium setting. You should be able to take lots of pictures based on the setting and mb that you use. Try experimenting with your camera first.

You could charge your battery in the morning before you leave for the parks. Mine takes about an hour to charge. I have a Canon camera. The battery pack is so small it fits into the camera bag. I think you may even be able to have it charged somewhere in a pinch.

Let me know if you find other places.

Thank you Jonsmom57, this is exactly what kind of info I was looking for!!! I didn't even think if being able to have them burned and then use the memory card again the next day!!!

If anyone has more info to add...please do!!!

Isn't that so cool! I don't have a CD burner so it works out perfect for me. We just got back from a cruise in May and they offered it as well.

Also, CVS also does this now for $4.99 in our area.

Here's the link on the exact place in Epcot that provides the service.

Thanks for the link...I think I need to have at least two memory cards to do this if it takes around 2 hours for them to transfer to a disc. This is also perfect for mel...as we do not have a burner either. I've been getting Sam's Club to put my pics onto disc and they only charge about $2.50 a disc.

Jen:

It seems like 2 hours is a very long time. Maybe they give they over estimate that in the event its busy. When we had them done on our cruise, it took less than 5 minutes.

I would look for sales on some of the electronic stores' websites. Most have no shipping/handling charges. The sales vary from week to week. I got my 128 mb from Best Buy with no shipping/handling for less than $50. They usually start an advertised sale on Sundays.

I am going the day after Thanksgiving? You? Have you been before? Its my favorite place.

Talk to you soon,
Joanne

If anyone is looking for additional memory cards you might want to check out E-Cost . Dan Murphy gave me then link when I was looking for a memory card. I got a 256MB SD card for $69. It also had a $20 rebate and free shipping! I placed my order Monday evening and received my package Thursday with the standard shipping.

I'm glad to know that I can get my pictures on a CD there if I need to. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

I just purchased a 256 MB Compact Flash card at Sam's Club for $59 I believe it was.
Walmart.com also has a service that allows you to upload and store your digital photos and then have prints made which will be delivered to your local store. I think the CD is an option here as well.

Not that I want to spend any Disney time somewhere else but, is there a Sam's near Disney? It would be way cheaper and maybe faster than two hours.

That's right....but....the last time I seriously checked into this...they only burn about 40 images onto a cd....so at least in my case (I take alot of photos) it was cheaper for me (at the current prices) to just buy extra flash memory.

It would be very easy for me at swan to go over to Journey to upload! The $11.99 for 120 images sounds great. Our local WM is starting to burn CD's in September after they get their new equipment and they are quoting .29 PER PHOTO to burn on a CD, with up to 100 per CD. That's just as pricey as printing! I'm hoping she is incorrect and that that is the print price - but we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for ecost link as well as the wdwig - I linked to the digital camera page. Zurk has a lot of info there.

We're just bringing the laptop and will upload the pics at the end of the day to free up the card.

on Main St. in Magic Kingdom, right as you walk thru the park on the right is a place where you can drop off you memory card and they will make prints for you. It takes a couple of hours. it is pricey but I did not think it was bad for disney. but it would be just as cheap to buy another memory card and wait til you get home.

I just purchased a computer with a memory card reader and can order my prints on line and they are delivered to my door.... no more standing in line and praying they can find my pictures...

Hope you enjoy your trip, but my advise would be to get another memory card. I think it will save you money in the long run.

Hi Jonsmom57..I have a Q. What cruiseline was that with. I'm going withCarnival when I'm there in October and that would be ideal for me.

Scott:

It was Royal Caribbean. But, if you are interested I can send you a link to a cruising message board that you can ask the question and people may have the answer for you.

It was something new they were trying, so by October, you may have that capability as well.

Have a great time!

Hi Scott:

I guess i only have one: www.cruisecritic.com. On this website you can navigate to the Carnival Boards and also to the Ports of Call info, as well as a Roll Call (Who is sailing with me?) Board. Let me know if you have that one.

There's a brand new Sam's Club on Route 192 in Kissimmee. If you check their website, you can get the exact address.

As far as purchasing extra memory for your camera, I tried that this past December. I filled all my memory cards in a very short time and agonized over which ones to delete. This past June, I had a notebook computer with me and was able to dump my photos to my hard drive every day or two. We ended up taking over 1000 photos during our 2 weeks at WDW.

I think it does depend on how busy. In February I was told come back in 4-5 hours. I asked if they were serious! Needless to say, I bought another memory card instead.
