Where in WDW can you not videotape or photograph?

I'm looking to videotape Space Mountain on-ride (I have a powerful nightshot light), but I'm not sure if I can do that or if a CM will tell me to put away the camera. I know these attractions do not allow videotaping or photography:

Alien Encounter
RNRC
TOT (inside the elevator)
WWTBAM

What else?

Someone was video taping in front of us at Pirates of the Carribean and someone came over the loud speaker and told them to turn off the camera. I was really glad because it was really annoying.

I also had somone with a bright light on a video camera behind me at Haunted Mansion, it was really annoying and took away from the experience for us.

After Who Wants To Be a Millionaire gets started you cannot record. Only at the end for Country Bears. No recording in Star Tours.

Universe of Energy...which bums me out because my kids love that, and would love to watch it over and over.

I always tape on POC and have never seen a sign or heard an announcement saying you cant. Oops!

Actually, you CAN video Pirates, you just can't use external lighting. The same is also true for Haunted Mansion, and I believe that includes Nightshot. I'm not totally positive about HM, but that's what I deduced last week. I taped all my favorite attractions, and that included Tower of Terror in full, even the elevator and drops. When in doubt, ask - that's what I did. And the only time they told me not to was in Dinosaur - everywhere else (unless it was clearly posted or announced) they said as long as I could hold on and tape, I was more than welcome to video. Hope that helps!! :)

Sorry, I didn't make that clear..... Both places I mentioned POC and HM they don't allow flash photography or video taping with external lighting. The external lighting on the camera is what took away from the experience for us on both rides.

External lighting is exactly what is not allowed. We hav eaccidentally used it before (when our camera was in auto mode it turns on by itself in certain light) and the CM's have almost always come on speakers in various dark attractions and told us to turn off the light.

You can video pretty much anything, just NOT with external lighting.

I believe they ask you not to photograph or videotape the Tower of Terror at all.

I have videoed in the TOT. It is quite funny. We are going along at a good speed then all of a sudden my camera goes up as we go down and everyone is screaming. (I had it strapped on to my hand.) It would be a great video for America's Funniest Home Videos. :)

No taping or still pics during Cirque. My sister took her cameras with her to the water park all day because we went to Cirque after. I hadn't realized that she thought she could video or I would have warned her.

I'm going on the Backstage Safari program at AK and they say no cameras or videotaping. Does anyone know if that means we can't carry that stuff with us but use it when we are in the park after the tour or does it mean we can't even have it on us? Any help would be great.

I have taped in full including pre-shows: Alien Encounter, TOT, POC, HM, COP, Country Bears, Star Tours, Universe of Energy, Test Track, Dinosaur, Imagination, Spaceship Earth, Body Wars, Maelstrom, The Great Movie Ride, Splash Mtn - yes including the drop and much more.

I have not tried RnR or Space Mtn because they are just too dark.

You cannot tell I'm taping because I cover the Power on light, Record light and the view finder.

I came home last time with 7 hours of tape...I guess it's safe to say that there isn't much they won't let you do LOL

External lighting is where the restrictions come in. I've taped all major attractions except for ones that I feared I would drop my camera or damage it (Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, RNRC, TOT) They do not let you tape WWTBAM...too bad cause I was in the hotseat!

CoP and American Adventure both have announcements that you are not allowed to photograph or videotape the performances.

Just wanted to add that I have taped TOT, RNRC and Space Mountain with no problems.

It's funny cus I taped TOT, in fact I began the taping as the CM was saying good-bye to us and he saw me videotape him, never said a thing. We got off the ride, went right back on and I wasn't planning on taping it again but when the CM saw my camcorder, he told me that I can't videotape the ride!

I taped each track of SM with no problems either! I used my nightshot and aimed it backwards at my fellow traveller, it was so funny!

I also taped RNRC twice, once from the front and once from the back. The back works out MUCH better because when you sit in back, it gives your camera more time to adjust to the lights that come on over the signs just before you go through them. From the front, it just looked fuzzy as the camera was trying to adjust. I just sit on the far side of the car (cus I am right-handed) and I put the camera in the middle of the two seats and lean it against my shoulder harness so it's steady and voila!

I too heard the announcement at COP. I once posted that on these boards and it seemed like I was the only one who ever heard that. In fact people said they were encouraged to videotape it by CMs.

I guess you have to ask about it, that's the advice I'd give. I never noticed anything at ToT saying no video or photography, and I've done both while in the elevator. Of course, if I HAD heard it, I wouldn't have, but the CMs (just as someone else had said) definitely noticed and didn't ask me to turn it off.

We did Keys to the Kingdom Tour earlier this month and were also told no cameras or videotaping just like you. We were allowed to keep them with us, but we had to take an oath that we would not use them backstage.

I know you are DEFINATELY not supposed to videotape or take pictures on ToT. I don't believe it actually says this anywhere, but the bellhop that loads you into the elevator is SUPPOSED to tell you this. (Up until the elevator part, it's fine to video and photograph, even the preshow). The main reason for this is safety. Say you're in the drop, your camera flies out of your hand and hits someone. I think that's the biggest reason, but I never asked, I just went with it. But, sometimes the CM won't announce this before the ride, maybe they ran out of time, got sick of the speil, or just plain forgot (when you're stuck at load for 3 hours straight, you're bound to slack off a little).
But if you do video or whatever, they USUALLY won't say anything to you...depends on who's working.
Same goes for RnR and the other thrill rides.
Just don't use external lighting on ANY ride, and you should be ok.

Thanks Skuttle. I have no problem promising not to use it - I just don't want to have to go all the way back to my resort after the tour so I can have my camera for the rest of the day. I'm glad that CMs seem to understand that on the tours.
