Bubble and Squeak?

YES...it's the "Bubble and Squeak"! We asked our server why it was called "Bubble and Squeak" and he really had no idea! The origin goes back to World War II when food was scarce. They take any leftover potatoes and add any vegetables they had, mix it all up with a little seasoning and flour to hold it together, form into patties and fry it until golden brown. Rose and Crown adds "leftover" cabbage and carrots to the mashed potatoes and a few green onion on top before it's served. It was really good! We'll get it again the next time we eat there; the Scottish Egg ... ??? ... wasn't bad but wasn't a favorite of ours either.

I think I win the "IT'S HOT" AWARD today! Just for the fun of it, I checked Diane's weather...warm boarding on VERY warm ; Denise...Kettle Falls showed 58 and rain and we're at 97 with a heat index of 107 at 5 in the evening! Headed out to the pool....

Today was very warm. We had a family reunion with my father's side of the family today. It wasn't bad at first but then by afternoon it was really hot. We had it at a state park where they have pavilions with picnic tables under and there are trees all around so we weren't directly in the sun but by the time we left it was very hot. I guess tomorrow is supposed to be cloudy but hopefully the rest of the week we get some sunshine. It's August and I'm not tan yet,

It was very good! I like to try at least 1 new thing on every Disney trip and this one passed the "I'll order this again" test. My Mom used to make the BEST potato pancakes in much the same way only she never added leftover vegetables. I LOVED those things! I printed the recipe; when my kitchen is back to normal I'm going to give it a try!

Accuweather had you listed at 86 degrees and that's pretty warm for you! Sounds like a fun afternoon though! Tree cover always helps and as long as the bugs stay away picnics are such fun! Hope you get your sunshine this week! I'm actually getting a slight tan ; that 45 minutes in the pool in the afternoons helps.

Yes, yesterday was delicious! It rained all day! Such a welcome relief. Last Wed. morning we had a lightening event and there were 23 new fires up here. 5 near me. Near my friends and neighbors. Helicopters over all of us for days. I haven't seen a helicopter since it started raining. I hope that the rain put the fires out. We have two more 100+ degree days coming up but then I hope that's the end of this horrible season.
