When I go out to feed the pigs in the morning I wear 3 layers on the top and 2 on the bottom and boots, scarf and gloves. I do not like going out in the morning but poor Lulu is out there in the cold and wants her warm oatmeal as soon as the sun comes up!
I know. 30's feels good to me these days. 20 is cold. Teens are bitter cold.
I can relate to shoveling snow. Good exercise! You are smart to clear around your fire hydrant. Of course I don't have fire hydrants or sidewalks where I am. It's pig paths and the driveway and the mailbox.
I drove home in an ice storm this evening. I do not like driving at night at all but my rehearsals are all at night. Brass this evening. I drove 40 the whole way. At least I was the only person on the road so I could go as slow as I wanted. I love that about living here.
That's exactly how much clothes I had on Tuesday night when we sat out in the 24 real feel degree temperature...except I had tennis shoes with 2 pair of socks...one pair was my Minnie "fuzzy's" instead of boots. The volleyball coach (head ladies coach) told DD today she was pretty upset with the soccer coach for making them play that game Tuesday in those temperatures. She cited Allie's frostnip problem as the main reason...she was surprised Allie was the only one! You named the main reason I told DH I wanted to be a "city girl" after we got married
; I remember many weekend mornings having to go out in the cold and feed the farm animals (Mom always took care of them on school days). Had more than enough of that as a teenager...it was hard enough taking Goopy out in the cold all those years! So glad you made it home safely in an ice storm...especially driving some of those roads WITHOUT RAILS!
I'd be afraid I'd just skid off the edge on some of those curves and nights are the worse! I don't even like driving in the rain at night! But I do drive about 40 too when it's raining hard; our roads have nice shoulders for slow drivers to use when necessary!

Sweatshirt and winter jacket and gloves is my normal 30 degree wardrobe...well...maybe 35-36 degree wardrobe! 30 degrees and I'd be INSIDE!

You can't even go OUT with -25 wind chill, can you?
Dang..those pictures the Weather Channel had on today/evening from Boston showed heavy winds...guess they reach NH tomorrow! I think they even said "blizzard conditions" simply from the blowing snow. Hard to imagine! Strange that Steph's school isn't cancelled all together!
At least the 2 hour delay helps a little but y'all should be staying INDOORS all day! That weather is dangerous! Are y'all having the really strong winds too? Saw some spots were getting up to 70 mph winds! Those turkeys look HUGE; guessing they're looking for food? The cardinals are beautiful! I love pictures of the red cardinals against the white snow! Olaf is sending YOU "warm hugs" too...

I miss them and blue jays. We have stellar jays but they are not as pretty.

I kept thinking it was a RIVER but couldn't understand the buildings being so close to it.
So I started paying attention to the reporting and learned the high tide was breaching the wall and flowing into the streets. WOW...it was flowing SO FAST and the wind was making waves...miserable conditions. I heard there was up to 75 mph winds...that's HURRICANE FORCE WINDS! The reporters also commented that the snow had stopped falling but the blowing snow from the winds created blizzard conditions. I was wondering about your power; figured you didn't have winds THAT strong but doesn't take much to knock those lines out. Redstorm was watching with me in the early evening and she promptly told me even WHEN she was a meteorologist
SHE would be the one working in the studio!
Stay warm!
Now comes part 2...who's float is this?
