We camp at Fort Wilderness at least 3 times a year. We only live 35 minutes away and are WDW annual pass holders. So for us it is a camping trip, not a park vacation. We love to camp and visit a lot of the Florida state parks, but FW is our favorite. We would never venture any where near the parks at Christmas/New Years. Just enjoyed the Fort and visited some of the resorts to look at the decorations.

I wish I lived close enough to camp at WDW. I love camping.

I am jealous. They are closer than I am. Although I am heading up there Friday morning for 4 days. This is the big Disney Marathon weekend. I am running the marathon on Sunday morning.

we got snow this morning and it even stuck to the ground

that's colder there then it is here lol

I do too although it has been a very long time since I pitched a tent there. Around the holidays campers go crazy with decorations. My brother and I were in one of the cabins not long ago. Great time.

JEFF...I KNEW you'd have an Emporium one but thought you'd wait a little longer. Lucky guess on that one!

Well I'm jealous of both Jeff & Diane...cold weather and those beautiful fluffy snowflakes! I know Diane will be sick of it soon but Jeff...glad you finally have a little snow cover...it's been a long time, hasn't it?

Ed...my "camping terms" were listed. Y'all can "rough it" but if I'm going the FW it's on MY terms. The cabins might be fun to try...DH would love it! We are SO totally opposite I have no idea how we've stayed married 43 years! He's all "into" the outdoors but I told him, living in the country as a child, I'd had enough! He wanted to build our house on his Dad's land "in the woods" and I refused. I'm WAY to used to the convenience of going to the grocery store in a 5 minute trip. We did compromise though...at least our acre is on the edge of the city limits and he has a wooded area to look out on from the back yard.

Welcome back! Glad you enjoyed your trip. Hoping you took some pictures of the decorated campsites. I don't camp PERIOD; my camping trips would have to be in a $300,000+ RV with AC/heat/totally "plugged in"/showers/soft beds/cable TV/microwave, etc. I do enjoy an outdoor meal though so I would serve meals under a covered "bug protected" tent...and oh...HAS to all be snake proof! But SO glad you enjoyed a quiet vacation at FW and the resorts ARE beautiful, aren't they?

We only camp between Oct and March, otherwise it's too hot here! And no, I don't have an expensive RV, but a small humble TT, but it does have A/C, which was a must this past trip. Have to admit it was a little disappointing to have to use the A/c in December, but the good side was were were able to go swimming!
Here is a picture of our set up this past week.

The Fort sprays for bugs, so that's never a problem and the comfort stations are always clean and they have A/C and heat. Never actually seen a snake, but I am sure they are there.

You could always stay in the cabins. Did that once, they are super nice.
