Looking for some idea's for eating in Orlando. For me I always have to eat at Perkins as it was my favourite place when I worked in Upstate NY. Dh likes to go to TGI's as he think's it is far better than back home. Need some otherfamily friendly idea's.

Can't really think of anywhere we HAVE to eat, but there are foods we pretty much have to eat (just we are flexible about the location...):
- a REALLY good steak (like Shula's)
- a REALLY good burger

Otherwise we are pretty much flexible. We try to go to Red Lobster (although, in all honesty, the one we went to in Orlando disappointed us last trip... maybe it is time to look for a better, but still casual, seafood restaurant in Orlando...). We also try to go to Outback.

Boo

All of the above, plus
Bennigans
Steak and Shake (good burgers, fun atmosphere)
Panera (good soups and sandwiches)
Sweet Tomatoes ('healthy' buffet, vegetarian friendly)
Orlando Ale House (ok, it's a bar, but it's family friendly, too)
Macaroni Grill,
Smokey Bones
and Best of British Soccer World, our friendly neighborhood pub (on I-Drive) for a 'taste of home'.

Oh! And Raglan Road. We love Raglan Road. :)

Following our recent trip, it has to be Smokey Bones. Outstanding ribs and barbecued pulled pork. Closely followed by Olive Garden.:thumbsup2

Love Red Lobster had a great meal at their Lake Buens Vista restaurant in December.

Also Ruby Tuesday at the Florida Mall and Cheesecake Factory at the Mall at Millenia.

I did used to like Tony Roma at LBV but that has closed and now only have their IDrive restaurant :(

Claire ;)

Bahama Breeze, and we also like Sweet Tomatoes :thumbsup2

Along the lines of TGIs and just off the top of my head:

Tony Roma's
Darryl's
Pizzeria Uno
Hard Rock Cafe
Rainforest Cafe

The only one of those on our "must do each time" list is Hard Rock Cafe and, even then, it's not so much "must do" as "always seem to do".

On the whole, our current favourites seem to be the upscale dining places, but we do have a thing about Raglan Road for the time being (not sure how long that'll last) and we're fond of The Orlando Ale house, but we haven' been for a couple of trips. Oh, and we haven't yet grown tired of The Cheesecake Factory. Ooh! Margaritaville! How could I forget that? Not the greatest food in the world, but a cool place to hang out.

We try to go to Red Lobster (although, in all honesty, the one we went to in Orlando disappointed us last trip... maybe it is time to look for a better, but still casual, seafood restaurant in Orlando...)
Boo, we haven't tried it yet, but Dixie Crossroads at Festival Bay isn't a chain (the original location is in Titusville and they've now added the Orlando location) and is, by all accounts, top-notch in terms of the quality of the seafood, but laid-back in terms of surroundings.

I just had to chime in with our experience of Dixie Crossroads. The food was....um......ordinary, to say the most. I would call it 'awful', but that would be unkind. ;)

We met friends at Dixie Crossroads and each had a separate meal, with all of us agreeing it was one step up (maybe....or maybe one step sideways) from fast food. A huge disappointment, since it's true the other branches of Dixie Crossroads came highly recommended.

Sweet Toms, Orlando Alehouse and Ponderosa (I know many dont like but we do) are only 3 must do's
Also like Olive Garden (service a bit slow), CiCi's Pizza.
Will eat just about anywhere thats quick and easy, hate wasting time with food, far too much to do.

Don't like Western Sizzlin and Golden Corral.

Jiko's and Tangierine Cafe - several times.

We always eat at The olive garden - but that is a family tradition starting from 1989 and with my family now we always go to the Rainforest cafe - the service is good, Rasta pasta is fabulous and DD loves all the animals.

We like crackerbarrel, good home cooking, with vegetables!!! Which we tend to fancy after a week of steak, chips, pasta etc. Excellent value, costs less for evening meal than we have paid for breakfast, nice country shop attached to each resturant as well. :thumbsup2

We don't tend to eat at many restaurants off site. A couple of places are a must for us though, Red Lobster and Taco Bell. We will be trying Bahama Breeze (thanks Kathryn;) ) and Cheesecake Factory on our upcoming trip.
