I want a redo on this year so far. I think I have done 4 whole pages of scrapbooking this year.
In the first part of Jan we went to WDW. Since my knee was acting up I limped around the parks and did not have a great time.
So when we got home from there I had an MRI done and the Ortho Dr said "time for a scope, you have torn meniscis" So I scheduled surgery for the last Weds in Jan.
I had to work a 24 on the Monday of that week when the Dr called and said "Anesthesia says you have to see a cardiologist because your EKG shows you have had a Heart Attack"
So cardiologist says "You are 49, fat and have had a MI you have to have a stress test."
But I have a bad wheel, I tell him.
"No problem we will inject your heart with radiation and then give you a drug that makes you feel like you are about to die!"
They do this on Tuesday. (the day before the knee surgery) So the results from that are............... Reduced blood flow to the back of my right atrium. So instead knee surgery on Weds he tells me "You have to have a Cardiac Cath on Thursday!"
SO Squid goes in for his cardic cath and 15 minutes later ......
" Okay sir we are all done no blockages your heart is normal, you can have your knee surgery tomorrow if you want!"
Total cost of over $20,000.00 to tell me there is NOTHING wrong with my heart
OH and BTW I still havent had my knee surgery!
Which they do on the monday after the Super Bowl. The nurse in the recovery room forgets to ice it and it swells up and oozes a bunch of blood.
The following week they take my stitches out and in comes the ortho Dr. with his demo knee and says"well in 3-4 years if you lose 50 lbs we can do a partial knee replacement if you dont lose 50 lbs we will have to do a total knee replacement
So I have that to look forward to at age 52- 53.
I went back to work for my first shift on April 8th!
In the mean time, as some of you know my father was diagnosed with cancer last year. He has been getting radiation and chemo and doing pretty well for being 75 years old. However he started to go downhill rather quickly in March. The week before Easter we went to Chicago to his brothers birthday party. He got together with 3 of his brothers and we spent a wonderful day at an Italian resturant and then playing cards. The next week we had dinner with the brother from Chicago and his sister from Virginia. That was last thursday the tenth
I was on shift On Tuesday when my wife called and said he had to go by Ambulance to the ER. Rapid shallow respirations but conscious and alert. They did some tests and then admitted him. She called me at work, 34 miles away, and said he was in his room and all my brothers and sisters were visiting. He was resting she said. 15 minutes later she called and said he was gone..............
So I left work and drove there to say goodbye. We worked out the list of people to call. We didnt get any response from his brother in Ohio. So we called one of his children to let them know. Weds. morning the cousin from Ohio called to say they went to tell my uncle and found him dead in bed..................
SO we had the wake Friday and funeral yesterday. They are doing My Uncles wake in Ohio on Monday and Funeral on Tuesday.
I am working a 48 hr shift today and tomorrow. Then 12 hr at the FD on Weds. Then Friday a Firefighters conference in Indianapolis.
I really need a break
