My husband and I have been married for 4 and a little bit years and we just adore Disney World. We vacationed there before we were married and go there several times a year now. Our only change in family vacation has been going to a cabin for a long weekend once when we lived in GA and going to Kauai for our honeymoon (both without kids, and now we have 2). Both were very fun, but for the most part we still use our family vacation time to go to Disney. Everytime we look at doing something different, we always come back to going back to Disney because it is our favorite and a sure thing.

What other vacations do you take that aren't lame compared to your awesome Disney vacations?

Well, we are Americans living overseas and part of the reason we moved was so we could travel. The vacations that were as good or better than Disney...

Egypt
South Africa (Cape Town and Krueger National Park)
Paris and DisneyLand Paris
Italy
London

In the USA...WDW is my favorite, but New York city is pretty fun, we had a great trip to Boston.

Actually, I have never had a vation I didn't like, but WDW ranks WAY up there.

We are going on our 5th cruise for our 4th anniversary in a few weeks. We only have one child, 17 months, so it's not yet a family vacation but with older kids (3+) I would totally do a cruise.

Alaska (6 times) and it hasn't been on a cruise.
Northwoods of Maine (ever get to watch a deer in velvet swim across a stream while in you're in a canoe? we did!)
Acadia, Maine (too many times to count)
Colorado (3 times)
Yellowstone/Grand Teton (3 times)
Grand Canyon (twice)
Northville-Placid trail in NY (Adirondacks - 122 miles)
Toronto (twice for Blue Jays games)

Alaska cruise, Arizona (Sedona and Grand Canyon), London, Paris, Swiss Alps, San Francisco, Hawai'i, NYC, I could go on.

We are a beachy family so the number one place we like is Turks and Caicos and pretty much anywhere in the Caribbean except St. Thomas.
Other great vacations for us were the cruise we took to Hawaii and Rocky Point Mexico. We also go to arizona and las vegas with the kids a fair amount of the time.

On our own my husband and I love New Orleans and Italy even though my husband complains about the exchange rate.

We go to the Oregon coast at least once a year and go crabbing ... yum

San Francisco is fun if your kids are old enough to walk around all day.

The West Coast is the best with great scenery, people and variety! We love San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite, but the Grand canyon, Las Vegas and California coast are nice too. Although we do enjoy city breaks and love New York, we are off to sample DC next summer :)

Our whole family loves cruising so if we're not going to the Orlando area, then its most likely a cruise.

Other places we've liked:

Colorado - Pretty much toured the whole state.
San Diegeo
Toronto
Bar Harbor, ME area
NYC
Boston
Savannah
Nashville

Agree with all these, except I haven't been to South Africa yet. I'm so jealous!

I'll add Switzerland to the mix and I agree with all those who said Alaska. :thumbsup2

Well, we've been told we should expand our horizons a bit, but for the last 4 or 5 years, DW and I have been splitting our vacation time between WDW and the Big Island of Hawaii. Next year we'll actually be doing both in the same year. WDW in February, Hawaii in October. We hope to some day explore some of the destinations others have mentioned, like taking an Alaskan cruise, checking out the Caribbean, maybe somewhere in Europe. But honestly, if I could live in Orlando and vacation in HI, I think I could be happy the rest of my life. Anything to get away from these Chicago winters...

I have been all over Europe which is wonderful. In my immediate area (driving distance), we go to Hilton Head for beach and Asheville for mountains/spa.
I like DC, NYC and Boston. Aside from Vegas, I have not made it out west yet but would love to visit northern CA and Arizona.

We really like Myrtle Beach, but spend most of our free time in the Smoky Mountains.

We took a cruise to Alaska this past August. DH was reluctant to go because it wasn't Disney (!). He's one of those people who likes to go to the same place year after year after year:rolleyes: . Well, he fell in love with both Alaska and cruising (don't want to say "I told you so", but....:rolleyes1 ). We're still taking our annual Disney trip at the end of January, but we're back to Alaska in August!

I echo this. We have done 5 DCL cruises and one Princess. We are cruising in November on either Carnival or RCCL. We all love it. It is the perfect fit for our family, and we have introduced many friends to the idea, and they feel the same way. There is something for everyone on a ship.

England is our favorite place to go besides WDW. I did enjoy NYC this summer but I went as a chaperone for a school thing with dd. She and I both want to go back when we can control our touring instead of someone else.

We also like visiting New Mexico, Colorado, and doing things close to home here in Michigan. I'm trying to talk DH into Las Vegas but it's a hard sell. He did express some interest in Colonial Williamsburg and also New England so those are on our list now, as well.

We still really enjoy WDW and go once a year. DD is 17 and she loves it so as long as she's willing to come along, we'll keep going.

I'm partial to:

The coast of Maine
Cape Cod
Martha's Vineyard
Plymouth, MA
Salem, MA
Newport, RI

and of course the Adirondack Mountains - where I am right now..:thumbsup2
