My wife and I are going to Disney for 3 nights the first of July. Starting on July 1 and leaving on July 4. We have tickets to Cirque De Soliel on our first night. I have read some other posts and would like to know what any couples have done that made their trips special without necessarily going to any parks. We are staying at OKW and this is our anniversary weekend. We have never been to the Boardwalk and many other places besides DTD. (Mostly the parks always) I would like to get pointed in a direction we can explore to find food, sights and interesting things while enjoying our time together. We are in our mid thirties and are open to anything. If we can fill our days with exploring and relaxing that would be nice.

No rental car this time.

Thanks,

Geaux tigers, yeah you right, chat! I am from Gretna/ West Bank area, and now live in chicago, due to DH. We are in our 30s as well, and went last year for our honeymoon. We have return for Memorial Day 2005 weekend, 2 nights, three days.
We definitely enjoyed a carriage ride we took at the Fort Wilderness resort. One of our best memories from the trip! Very affordable and lasted about 30 minutes or so. I discovered it in the Unofficial Guide to WDW book-lots of great info on behind the scenes tours, and carriage rides. They also have them at the Port Orleans resort, but we really likes the Fort Wilderness ride.
Enjoy yourself!

but does it require an advance reservation? We have 5 children and took them on their first trip last year. So our planning is mostly family oriented. I need to get another guide book.

Thanks for the info.

We live between Baton Rouge and New Orleans along I-12.

We made the reservation the day before from our resort. Hope this helps. There is also a hayride at FW if the kiddies are going!

We just happened to find a bench tucked away on Tom Sawyer's Island. Still on tar but down around a small bend. Did not stroll but sat there for a while.

My DH and I love to go to the Boardwalk. We aren't fancy eaters so usually eat at either Big River Brewery (outside tables can be fun for people watching if it isn't too hot) or a short walk to Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club. We then take in the sights and entertainment at the boardwalk. My sister had her cards read by the fortune teller last time. We also like to go to Jellyrolls. (dueling piano bar)

The Boardwalk will be a new part of Disney for us to see. I am looking forward to it. Will that take care of a full day with DTD also. I would like to use the boat for transportation instead of the buses if we can. We are now staying at SSR.

How late does teh Boardwalk stay open?

Jellyrolls stays open until 1 or so.... The gift shops and such close around 11... We're usually so beat from being at the parks that we need to get back anyway. When we have stayed at POFQ it took us awhile to get back by bus. (BW to DD to POFQ)
