We can have snow up until the first of May or so--not covering the ground, but flurries. I have basically lived in the same part of the country most of my life--grew up in the Chicago area, went to university in Columbus, Ohio, and now live in Indianapolis. I remember one of the most horrendous snow storms occurred the first of April. It was a deep, heavy, sleety snow, and it brought trees down. I remember when it was because I was a third year medical student, and that weekend we started our Ob/Gyn rotation. So, of course, I had to go out driving in it about 5 am or so. I was lucky, though. Got there safely, and I am still alive to tell about it.
