Where do you leave the tip?

We tape our tip to the mirror in an evelope marked with mouse keeping. My girls would write a message on it asking for a certain towel animal and when we came back to the room the envelope was gone and a towel animal was left everytime. My kids would get so excited to see if they had a towel animal.

I tape my envelopes to the mirror as well. It seems like the most visible spot in our room.

I always at the end of our stay at POR give it to our cleaning lady. I also do this when we are at a restaurant, I give it directly to the server. The reason behind this is when I was growing up I was a server and when tip money was left on the table, other servers would steal my tip from me. Now this didn't only happen to me either, I have heard this from many servers even from WDW. Servers thank me very much when I hand them there tip to them directly.

We put it on the TV under the little name card that housekeeping leaves. That way they know for sure that it is for them.

I leave it on the vanity with a note. I figure the sinks will be cleaned so the mousekeeper will see it.

we leave our daily tip envelope on the pillow of our unmade bed

they've never missed one yet!

We leave ours in an envelope marked "MouseKeeping" on the bathroom counter.

I don't want to come across as harsh, but if you can't speak, read or write English, you are working here in the US and you can't figure out if the money being left in the room is a tip, it's your loss.:confused3

PS We had no envelopes in our room at POFQ and left the tip next to a napkin with Housekeeping written on it.

Why preface something like this with "I don't want to come across as harsh"??????
You did.

Okay. Here is the edited version...

I left ours folded and tucked into the folded towel animal that was in our room when we got there. Very easy for them to see and since they had left the towel animal, it would be hopefully obvious that I had left it for them as opposed to some change or money I might have left around. It was taken each day and our room was returned to spotless condition when we returned at the end of our day. I wish I had Mousekeeping at home!

We printed the envelopes from thmouseforless and left one on the nightstand, the first two days I left dollar bills, the next five days I left quarters in the same amount. They never took the quarters, even though it was the same amount. I started to move the envelope around to different locations, the bed, vanity, table, they never took it. Guess quarters aren't good enough. As the other poster said "their loss"
BTW - To the poster who lost the $10 I didn't think they were supposed to take anything not in an envelope marked for them.

Per day? Per stay?

Likewise....$1 per person, per day. I leave it each day as it can be different person and you want them to be appreciated each day and thus hopefully continue with good service. It makes less sense to say 'thanks' after you've gone home.

I leave mine on the night stand, or on the foot of the bed. Either way it's in an envelope marked for Mousekeeping. Of course, I make my bed every morning, even on vacation, so they probably think I'm nuts!

OMG! I do too! I leave the tip in an envelope on the table. The table is always cleared off (okay! I am obsessive!) and it is clearly marked for the housekeeper (or mousekeeper when in WDW).

We just got back from our trip to WDW yesterday, and every day we left our tip on the nightstand under the name card the housekeeper put out the day we arrived. I wrote a little note every day thanking her for cleaning our room and for the surprises if she decorated the window with DD's toys, and every day she took her tip and made our room clean and neat. There were three of us so we left between $3 and $5 each day.

I always leave $4 / day ($2 for me and DBF) in a decorated envelope- they have always taken it. I usually leave it on the pillow I think

On top of the TV with the little card that they leave sitting ontop of the money. Sometimes I put the tip in an envelope labled "Thank you Housekeeping" sometimes not. It was hit or miss if they took it. Ususally only the regular maid took it. Seemed like the weekend replacements usually left it.
