Where do YOU go for your favorite beach vacation? And what state are you from?

Am I really the first west coaster in this thread?

Living in Oregon, we've made plenty of trips to the Oregon coast, but it's usually cold and cloudy and the water is always freezing. Our favorite place for a weekend is Sunset Bay state park for camping.

We take longer trips to southern california every year or two. I like Newport Beach in L.A. and Pacific Beach in San Diego. DW and I lived in San Diego for 6 months before we had kids and we spent a lot of time at Pacific Beach.

I live in Texas but my favorite beach so far is Coronado Beach. My ambition is to stay in the hotel and spend time wandering the beach. But then California has so many great beaches.

As for Texas beaches, Galveston has horrible beaches but I like the town. The closest decent beach when we lived in Houston was probably Sargent Beach.

Of course, I'm partial because I am from Hawaii  , but I have to say Maui has the best beaches. Not too crowded, kid friendly, the beaches stretch for miles and miles, and clean.

I also like the Outer Banks and Virginia Beach, but the waves are rough, sharks, and rip tide. Scary.

Typhoon Lagoon.

I wind up getting pretty bored at actual beaches.

I'm in Kentucky, so its a long way to a beach. My favorite as a kid was always Clearwater Beach, where my grandparents lived. Then later I discovered the Florida Panhandle, anywhere along there is nice. Atlantic Beach, NC was also pretty.

But this summer I found my new favorites. Sandy Beach, Sunset Beach, and a park with a beautiful beach, I think it was Malaekahana. We only got to O'ahu, but I'd love to see Maui.

I live at the beach so I don't need to go anywhere for a great beach vacation, I just need to go a couple of miles from my front door. :)

Jupiter and /or Juno Beach Fla. :cool1: It is the most beautiful and tranquil place to just hang out....We stay at a little known resort that is right on the beach.....It is just too relaxing for words. :sunny:

I think my favorite is Mexico Beach, FL. My grandparents used to have a house there so it kind of has a special place in my heart. Apart from that, it's not hugely touristy (yet, though I think it's catching on :( ), but it's only about 30 minutes from Panama City if I'm feeling in the mood for cheese.

I'm from Georgia.

Coronado is nice, but when we lived in S.D. in '93, it was often closed because of contamination from the Tijuana river.

I live in PA and my favorite beach vacation is either in Ocean City, MD or Myrtle Beach.... though I've been there so many times that I'm taking a break.

What is Ocean City MD like now? It was there that I first saw the ocean 28 years ago. My memory is fuzzy, but it was wide, the sand was very white and deep, and the boardwalk was a blast! I'd like to go back someday if it's as beautiful and fun as I remember.

Live in GA, can't pick just one
Favorite quiet inexpensive family beach vacation is Oak Island, NC.
Favorite off season getaway is Daytona Beach.
Favorite beach for the sand and water is Destin.
Favorite beach for the city is St. Augustine.
With unlimited funds and time, LOL, Kerry, Ireland!

The St Pete, Outer Banks, and Charleston areas are on my must see list.
