where do you get your child's ears pierced

We took my DD7 to a tattoo/piercing shop for her first ear piercing about 6 months ago. They used single-use needles and were very professional. They required that she personally express the desire for the piercing - in other words, they would not have pierced a child's ears just because the parents wanted it done. I liked that.

When my DD5 wants hers done, we will go the same route.

When DD is ready to get her ears pierced, I'll be taking her to the piercing shop that I go to and not a place that uses a gun (reusable or disposable) for all the reasons PPs have already mentioned.

Kudos to the shop where you got your DD's ears pierced at. Even though I despise Claires and other like stores who use the gun for piercing, I wish that they would do the same as well. Even though it very much the parents choice to get their childs ears pierced when they haven't even said their first words yet, or don't know whats happening to them, I cant help but feel sorry for the kid.

Love that this shop asks the individual if they want their ears pierced. My oldest doesn't want to get her ears pierced and my youngest does, but not right now. It's their decision if they want extra holes in their body.

I plan on going to a reputable piercing place when they are ready. I just think an informed parent is a good parent whether you go where they one time use their guns or they autoclave.
