I live on the east coast and have no clue what airport to be looking at for airfare deals. I've never been to California so please bear with me :)

We have flown into Santa Anna (SNA) also known as the John Wayne airport. You can some times get better deals for LAX (LA) but its farther away and can have traffic problems.

As auntyjenn said, the Orange County Airport (SNA) is the closest, however, you can usually (not always) get better deals flying into LAX Airport.

I also recommend Long Beach, especially if you have Jet Blue. Long Beach Airport is closer than LAX.

In the other direction - inland empire area - there is the Ontario Airport (ONT) which is more or less the same distance as LAX from Disneyland.

I'd check out the prices for those four airports to see what your best option is.

We fly into John Wayne airport. One of the benefits of both this and Long Beach (in addition to being closer to Disneyland) are that the rental cars for the major companies are located right at the airport, so there is no need to catch a shuttle.

Thanks. I'm just playing around with this idea. We have Delta credits and my DS would love to see the Haunted Mansion done up as Nightmare Before Christmas. Anyone know how long they leave it done up?

I've always flown into SNA. It's not too busy and is pretty close to the parks. If I find good airfare sometime, I'll try Long Beach. I think it's even 2 miles closer and I've heard lots of good things. =)

Nightmare Before Christmas is usually done by the first weekend in October, and stays up through the holiday season, coming down after New Years.

I'm using Ontario,as it's the only one to fly directly into from Tuc (besides LAX):thumbsup2

I fly Jet Blue from Boston logan airport and go straight to LB airport, it's small, easy to get my rental car right there and not far from DL :thumbsup2

We usually do this too, however in planning for this February, the prices were outrageous. It was much less to go direct (still on Jet Blue) to San Diego. We will be in that area before our evening flight home anyway, so the only "inconvenience" will be getting from SD to DL so that shouldnt be too bad.

The first part of my trip will be in the SanDiego area then drive to DL go there for 4 days then come home. so going to LB for me seems like it was the best idea. what you are doing that isn't bad either, Sandiego isn't that bad to DL :thumbsup2

As a local, I always use Long Beach or SNA and I avoid LAX at all costs. It is a WAY larger airport, very very crowded, horrible security lines, and the traffic from LAX to the Anaheim area is a bear no matter when you go. Going home, you'd spend more than half your day between the freeways and the security lines if you chose LAX.
I personally take the more expensive ticket (it is usually not too much more anyways) and use Long Beach or SNA.

Obvious preference would be John Wayne. But sometimes we find airfare thats $100 bucks a person cheaper to fly into LAX. So for 4 or 5 of us its definitely worth it. And its never been a hassle for us. 45 min or so shuttle and we were at our hotel.

We have always flown into Ontario (ONT) but would definitely consider John Wayne or Long Beach if the prices was lower. We would only fly into LAX if it was considerably cheaper than the other three.

We always fly into LAX. It's often cheaper and since our kids are getting older we don't mind that rental cars are off-site.

We also fly into LAX as prices are better (more money for spending at disney) and the arrival/departure times suit us better.

We fly into LAX as the prices are better and we can get direct flights into LAX. We cannot get direct flights into John Wayne and it costs more.

Thanks for the replies!
WOW is it expensive to fly into Ca.!!! Maybe we won't be able to do this after all.

Could be different coming from other areas of the country but there are many direct SEA/SNA flights to choose from and the prices are not all that different.

IMO the hassles of flying in or out of any airport other than SNA is just not worth the small savings. And the savinds were smaller than ever this time. Less than $20 a ticket between SNA and LAX.

How far is SNA from Disneyland. I believe we arrive around 9:30AM in December and was wondering how long it would take from there to get to DL.
