Where do you find your cheap airfare ?

I use sidestep.com and I've read good reviews of kayak.com.

I will first do a search on expedia or travelocity but then go to the top three airlines websites to actually book the flights. So far, they have always been cheaper that way.

last dec we paid less than 400 for all 4 of us to go to wdw
this year its over 1000

We will be going in March 2007. I have been watching the airfares and all the non stops where going real fast already. I just a few seconds ago booked with American Airlines for 5 people and it was a little over $1.900.oo.

was that steep? seems like it to me.
I know Saturday to Saturday is suppose to be more but this seems awful high to me.

I used to go to the on-line travel agenct sites like Travelocity, Expedia and my favorite, Orbitz. Then I tried www.Kayak.com, which does the search and sends you directly to the airlines' sites; the thing I like about it is that it's only a search engine, with no booking intermediary program to go thru since you just get connected to the airline site.

I still look at the airline sites directly frequently, just to guage things and get an idea of the flight schedules. Also, I always look at the Southwest site individually, since it is the only airline that Kayak does not seem to cover.

I also concur with Alicnwondrln, that the days of cheap flights are over. Things are just going to be more expensive from now on.

I too have not found cheaper flight on sights like expedia, orbitz, etc. I always check but find fares to be better at airline websites. I just keep watching the three carriers out of Detroit and jump in when it feels right. It's all a crap shoot anyway!

kayak.com and I find Orbitz is usually the best for airfare.

Southwest is good to check also. I just booked 5 tickets for $855 for this Aug. and it's a non-stop flight. We are actually leaving a day earlier b/c we were going to break even w/ the extra night and the cheaper fare.

I read where someone booked their tickets for next March already and payed like twice as much. Just my opinion, I would never book that far out unless I had an awsome deal. Watch, watch, watch. I cannot stress that enough. And don't panick if they go up. They will come back down. I watched and waited and missed the boat to see the tickets sky rocket and they did come back down every time. Now, I'm not saying they've been the deals of the past, but they have been reasonable. Good Luck!

The more flexible you are on dates and the more last-minute you can make plans, the more likely you are to get a great deal.

Jennifer and Dave Marx of Passporter famr just had a snippet in their news letter about $16 ROUND TRIP airfare from Michigan to MCO that their assistants took advantage of.

Southwest Dings can be really good fares but you have to act fast.

Even the legacy airlines have great deals if you look frequently and are flexible.

Sign up for the smartertravel.com weekly deals email - this one is great because it gives you the specials for all airlines (except Southwest, I think) and saves youfrom signing up for individual emails from individual airlines. Check sites like bestfares.com, too - they have a free and a paid portion of their website but even the free portion is pretty good.
