Where do you buy clothes for your 11/12 year old dd's?

This age is so hard. They are not into the younger kid stores, but not really big enough for the name brand stores. But they want to wear the name brand clothes. And they definitely have their own style choices, won't just wear what we pick out. LOL

Dd13 started to fit into junior sizes at that age - she got curvy, and even though size 12 childrens would fit, it didn't fit right. She loved abercrombie, which comes in childrens sizes. She would still wear Target, Old Navy, and Kohls, but had to pick the clothes out herself.

I have a tough time as well. Dd will be 13 in September (going into 8th grade) and wears a size 10 jeans and about a size 12 top. She has not hit puberty yet so she had no curves. BUT, she does want to dress like her friends.

For bottoms, I buy jeans at Justice, just the plain jean, she likes the skinny leg ones. I find Justice to be very kiddie-like in their clothing, but if you can find something plain, with no embelishment than it is fine - basically jeans and tank tops, the plain ones oh and underwear (string bikini, so it doesn't show under her leotard, she's a competitive gymnast and in the gym basically everyday.)

For tops, I will buy the t shirts from Aero and Holister, but if it is a scoop neck sweater/shirt or v neck I find it dips to low and can look silly on her. Also, she can wear the 3 button polos from these stores.

Ambercrombie is good too and I will get a couple of things from there.

It's tough out there for this age group that wants to be like the older kids, but they don't have the body to wear half the clothes....

My daughter loves Justice for Girls. Appearently it's THE place for hip and cool tweens. I also get things from the GAP Outlet for her - same stuff found at the regular Gap only a bit cheaper. Target sells cool stuff as well. My daughter is 11 and can still wear some things from the childrens departments but for jeans and kaki's I have to buy from the Jr. departments.

Cat is only 7 but she can fit into an extra small at Aero in most styles. She does jeans and Camis from Justice and loves Ambercrombie.

My DD13 just turned 13 last month. I've always bought her pants at Old Navy, Target or Wal-Mart, sometimes tossing in a Justice or similar store if the price is right. Well, everything I bought her just a few months ago is already too short, the waist is fine but the length isn't so on the advice of some parents on the Budget Board I decided to see if Aeropostale had any 00 that might fit her on their clearance racks. On our to Aero we saw our Anchor Blue was shutting down, they had size 0 jeans for $15.99 a pair, I got her 1 pair there and then we went to Aero, they had 3 pairs of jeans on the clearance rack, 2 were 1s and 1 was a 0. She tried them all on and we went with the 0s, so I got her a pair of Aero jeans for $6!!!!! I also got her some shirts from the Aero clearance rack and a really nice dress for her to wear to my BFF's wedding. :) I spent less than $50 and got jeans, 2 long sleeved shirts, 2 tanks, 1 short sleeved top and the dress. :) I also found out that the tank tops they have there have built in bras and really GOOD coverage for a tween!!! So I got 2 regular priced tanks, but they were buy 1 get 1 and I had the 30% friends & family discount, so I got 2 more tanks for $14. We did go back to Anchor Blue where I got her 1 more of the $15.99 jeans and we also found a pair for $2.99!!!!!!!!!! I wish they'd had more of those! LOL So I will be watching Hollister, Abercrombie and Aero clearance racks from now on, those clearance prices were amazing!!!!!

You all are amazing. My DD turned 10 a few months ago and really wants to "fit in" but sort of have her own style too. I had no frame of reference where to shop as I never had nice clothes as a tween or teen for that matter.

My dd loves Justice and I am on the mailing list so I get 40% off coupons in the mail all the time. American eagle also has a reasonably priced kid section online.

My dd is 11 and we buy her clothes at Aeropostale, Hollister and Old Navy. I get her tops at Aero and Hollister, she's small so she fits into the XXS and XS. The only jeans that fit her well are the ones from ON, she's a slim but still needs the adjustable waist. I agree with the pp who said some of the lower cut shirts are low, dd usually puts a cami on under them, or she layers them over a plain long sleeve in the cool/cold months. Some are just cut too low to look right though so she'll have to wait a few years for those styles.
She told me today that she wants to look at Miley's line at Walmart and Selena Gomez's line at Sears. I don't usually shop at either of those stores for her clothes but I'll take her to check them out.

I'm surprise at the number of girls that still wear Justice. I know when my DD hit middle school, Justice was no longer cool and was to be avoided! It must be difference in your area.

I know my DD and her friends like Pac Sun, American Eagle, A&F,Hollister, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Zumma and Maurices. For uniforms we get Gap and Old Navy.

My DD will be 13 in October, and she is not a girly grl. We buy all of her clothes at the following stores: JCPenney, Old Navy, Kohls and Target.

Maybe it is different. We are in South Florida. My dd loves Justice. She is 12, but all of her friends are 14-16 (gym team--all public schooled-- and some homeschool classes). Everyone talks about how cool my dd looks. I will admit she puts a little of her own style into the outfit, but they are so cute (ok don't tell her I said that). She loves Aeropostale, Target for the basics, Old Navy, etc. Oh yeah been taking big advantage of those 40% off coupons in the last few weeks.

Aeropostale, A&F, Hollister, Old Navy, Gap, and major dept stores.

I have a dd11. We shop mostly at JC Penneys and Sears.

We don't have a Justice in our mall so we've never bought there.

My DD is 13, all of her school clothes this year came from Aeropostale, AE, and Delia*s.

My DD is 11 years old and very petite. She gets tops at Aero, Jacob and Gap. We also love to check out Kohls when we are the US. We often drive to cross the border at Detroit and shop.:thumbsup2

My DD12 likes to be different. She likes the Justice clothes but they don't fit her. This year we shopped Sears, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and DOTS. She is in a 0,1, or 3 in pants. Medium juniors shirt to fit right but small for cami's to fit right. Small for shirts in DOTS. But, my DD is 5'4" tall and 34A/B chest. She has been asked for ID and people assume she is in her mid teens. She was 80's Pop Star Barbie last year for Halloween and most peope thought she was way older. She was just 11 in the following pics.

You will be fighting off a lot of boys... My father used to say keep your shot gun close if you have a daughter. I would have guessed 14-16.
