My dh and I will celebrate out 10 yr anniversary next month and thought it would be fun to "renew" our vows at Disney. I thought I had read a while ago about a rehitching ceremony. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

I believe it's done at the Garden Grill in Epcot... during the Ice Cream Social.

We did it in August at the Garden Grill for Lunch. They told me it wasnt done for the ice cream social but I found out that Cast member lied to me on the phone because we saw two people do it with the ice cream. The only difference was we got a cake and certificate with ours and they only got a certificate. The lunch was by far one of the best I have had so it was worth it to me. They serve a London Broil that is so good I only wish I could make it like that.

I would do it at lunch with the characters at Garden Grille. From my understanding it is much better ceremony than at the ice cream social. I also believe, but I am not positive that they only offer rehitching ceremonies at the ice cream social during peak seasons.

I was there at the beginning of the month and they do it during peak season. They did get a certificate and a cake and it was during lunch.

What, exactly do they DO? It is a real ceremony with vows exchanged. Do they do it right at the table you are sitting at? And ... lastly ... it doesn't HAVE to be your anniversary, right?

THANKS!

Humm. Very interesting. Might just have too look into this for a friend.

It's similiar to what they do for birthdays. The waiters and sometimes characters come over to your table and call everyone's attention. They do something silly like have you kiss for 10 seconds while everyone counts. hehe. It's really cute. I think they might have you say I dos too.

Does anyone know if you have to tell them it is your anniversary when making the reservation? Or can you just let them know at the restaurant?

I would tell them when you make your PS that's your anniversary, and then also tell the CM at the desk with you check in.

There are no real 'vows' that are exchanged during the ceremony. It mostly consists of you saying a quick 'I do' and kissing while the CM count to 100 (they start counting by 10's after 10). Definitely not anything formal, but really cute!

Can't wait for this. We are arriving on our anniversary and will be going there with our 5 cherubs to get rehitched at dinner! It was my first PS I made for this trip-lol.

OK, so now I gotta wonder if they'll do it for same-sex couples, because we'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary in two years. (I know they won't do the real hitching, claiming you have to have an official Fla wedding license, but no such required for renewing vows).

Peace,
Viki:confused:

Yes they take a picture but with your own camera. Make your you have one ready to go.

We had ours during the Ice Cream Social---one of my favorite Disney moments :) :) :) We had our two little ferrets in tow so I figured this would go over much better than a long lunch.

Mr. FFerret was taken completely by surprise. I thought he'd be at least a little grumpy about it but he was all smiles. Even did the 10 second smooch.

(happy ferret dance)

One CM held our camcorder (video didn't turn out too well), and another took a picture (which was a little blurred), but the pic is STILL one of my all time faves!!!!!!! A wonderful kiss. Even got Mickey in there.

UPDATE:
In the PICTURE I mean. Even got Mickey in the PICTURE :)

The woman who read us the vows part did an EXCELLENT job. It was all quite wonderful :)

About them only doing it during peak times--we had ours the first week of October in 2003 on a Thursday around 3:30.
