Where do people come up with this stuff?

Yet another person I know has asked for advice planning their first trip to WDW. I gave her my best info and advice, as all good DISers do. Today she told me that she read on a Disney website that there's a new system for FASTPASS - she says there is a FASTPASS kiosk near the front of the park and you can go there when you first arrive and schedule all your FASTPASSES for the whole day. Now I know this can't be right, but I certainly wouldn't want a newbie knowing something about WDW that I don't, so can anyone here validate me by confirming she has misunderstood something?!?

Not true for WDW---she is wrong. I have heard of this, though. Maybe at Six Flags??? and for additional $$$

edited to add: I just found it on Sixflags.com---it is called FastLANE and schedules you for 11 attractions.

This doesn't even make sense. Disney wants people to spread out to all the lands; there's no way they'd put a bottleneck like a FP kiosk near the front. The lines would get terrible and Main Street would get all clogged up.

It seems like I read something about this in an article about rumored fastpass changes. It was around the same time the rumors of deluxe resort guests getting more FP's than mods and values. Maybe they were/are still considering some of these changes.

Maybe she's thinking of the ticket kiosks at the front of the TTC?

If everyone could get their free fastpass itenerary at the front of the park, could you imagine how long the line would be????????????

Picture this........

You've been in line for your fastpass "menu" selection for 5 hours. You finally approach the front of the line. The family of 4 ahead of you finally gets access to the fastpass machine. You roll your eyes as you hear 10 minutes of........"But honey, I want to go on splash mountain at 11:00 and Space Mountain at 2:00........BUT DAD!!!!!! We want Peter Pan at 11:00....etc. etc. etc." Gives me the chills just thinking about it.

A few years back, Universal Studios in Orlando did this -- they sold you a book where you could get passes similar to fastpass, but it had a different name. The drawback was that it cost more, of course, and also that you couldn't buy only the ones you really wanted, so you ended up paying even for passes you knew you weren't going to use. I prefer Disney's way over this because you also could only do one pass for each attraction. At Disney, you could get there early, get a Fast Pass for Peter Pan, say, then after you rode it, get another Fast Pass for it for later in the day. Anyway, this Universal Studios booklet seems to be similar to what the OP was describing. Perhaps the friend overheard someone talking and just figured it was about Disney because it was in Orlando.

Universal has a kiosk where you can buy a card that is good for the equivalent of a FP for each of the rides with lines, and you can use them whenever you want. At least they did, I don't know what they're doing now.
