Where do I use my FP+'s in an Aug Sunday??? Advice please

I am planning on going to the AK on a Sunday in August scheduled to be a crowd level of a 5, then break midday for a swim and possible nap, finishing the day at Epcot. We are not fans of the AK at all, but we do really enjoy Kilamanjaro Safari, so we are going for maybe 2 hours. Our intent is simply to do the Safari, Kali River, and maybe a Bugs Life.
My question is would I need to use my daily FP+ selections if I get there close to RD? Our favorite ride in all of WDW is Soarin, so if I can save the selections for the afternoon/evening and get another clean shot at Soarin it would be great. But we do not want to use too much time in AK either.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You can do those three things very quickly without FP if you're there at RD. Save your FP for Soarin, you'll need it in the evening.
My heart breaks a little though because I love AK! The thought of someone rushing through makes me sad.
