Where do I find a guy?

A few people have brought up the volunteering idea, and while it sounds nice, it's really not possible for me right now. I really don't have the time, since I'm at the hospital all day, and by the time I get home, I doubt I would have the energy to do a volunteering project. Granted, right now, I have free weekends, but once I start surgery, my schedule is a bit less unpredictable. Which I guess is also part of the problem, I don't have the typical schedule, I will have to be at the hospital on some weekends, on some rotations, I will need to take overnight call, so finding someone who also understands that I don't have the typical schedule is also hard to find. I guess I also need someone who can be a bit flexible with when we have dates, Friday night can't always be date night.

My friend's all know I'm looking, but so far, no luck through them. I did meet someone who I thought was a great guy through my sister, but then he turned out to be a flake like the rest of them. So who knows.... I'm not sure what the secret is. Sometimes I want to be all cynical about it, but deep down, I'm a hopeless romantic.

OK, since I have a daughter almost your age, here is my motherly advice:
Now is probably not the time to be persuing a romantic relationship. You have too much at stake to risk the distraction, plus you most likely have very little to give of yourself right now. Focus on your education and starting your medical career. Things will fall into place when the time is right! ;)

Thinking about this question the opposite way: how are you feeling about you these days? Under the theory that others can subconsciously perceive our own self-esteem ... do you feel pretty? fun? interesting? or just tired and stressed?

I am mentally running through my list of single guy friends for you, trying to figure out religious loyalties :). I'm 29, born and raised tri-state area, and I work in midtown. Are we very similar that way?

I don't work in midtown, and I'm a bit younger than you, but yup, born and raised in the tri-state.

As for my own self esteem, I feel great about myself. I do feel pretty most of the time (I feel even prettier when I can wake up later than 5 am), and I think I'm pretty interesting. I'm not a one-sided person in the sense that I like one thing and only one thing. I generally have a good time no matter what I'm doing. One of my friends is amazed that I can put up with all this garbage at the hospital, and still leave with a smile on my face.

Hmm...well I am a Jewish mom and 2 of my sons are in the 20's..but one is engaged adn one lives in CA. The one in CA is also dating a rocket scientist!!

Since you have med school ahead of you, I would date someone that you liked, and not let religion get in the way right now. I dated lots of guys when I was a single mom...some Jewsih some not, and my last 2 serious boyfreinds were Jewish..and I did marry one. There is an 7 1/2 year age difference though...but he doesn't mind me being a cougar :cool1::thumbsup2.

Give yourself some time. I have found when I was looking for love, it never came, when I stopped looking and just wanted some fun and to hang I found it. I am sure you will meet some nice Jewish guys at med school!!

Good luck...you are young..give yourself some time!! :)
