Where did you meet your DH/SO??

DH and I met when a single gal that I knew dragged me to one of the most horrible bars on the planet.

There was a chick singing who reminded me of Courtney Love only more tone deaf. She was wearing a bra (only) and kept raising her fist in the air, screaming f*** yeah!

As if that wasn't enough, there was a young woman in the bathroom who was so drunk that she had gotten her rear end stuck in a trash can....I don't even want to know how that happened.

DH came over and spoke to me for awhile, but I was already so "anesthesized" by then, that I was actually a little on the abrupt side. He persisted, and I did give him my number.

After I finally convinced my friend to leave, she offered a ride to two guys who had parked down the street. As we pull up to their car, we see that they are driving a gremlin station wagon with a VERY LARGE cb antenna on the top.

When I got home, I was ready to write the entire evening off as a total loss. The next night, DH called, I met him for a drink, we moved in together a month later, Ryan was on the way 2 months after that, and we've now been married for 12 years. Go figure!

DH and I met in 1994 in high school. He was a senior and I was a sophomore. I actually started dating one of his friends, we broke up, then a few months later I asked DH to the Sadie Hawkins dance. We've been together ever since. :)

I met Sue in 1984. I had just moved back home to Ohio from California and was feeling quite lonely. My aunt in California had given me a piece of advice before I moved back east. She told me that I had been looking for love in all the wrong places (to borrow a familiar lyric) and that I should go to church to find a girlfriend. Little did I know just how prophetic her advice would be. Not long after returning to Ohio, I attended Christmas Eve services at my dad's church. I saw this sweet young lady sitting with her mom. After the service, Sue came over to talk to my mom about the flowers on the altar. I found out later that this was just a ploy to come over and check me out. Sue and I talked for a bit before we went our separate ways.

The next day, I asked my mom if she would talk to Sue's mom to see if she was dating anyone or if she was "available". Imagine my surprise when my mom called me the next day and told me that not only was Sue available, but that she was expecting me to call and ask her out. I had never asked a girl out on a date. Any time that I had gone out with a girl prior to that, either she asked me or my friends fixed me up. I was mortified that my mom had told Sue that I was going to call her. I found out sometime later that my mom told a little fib and that she had not told Sue anything. She was just trying to give me a little push. Well, I got up the nerve to ask Sue out a short time later. Our first date was a trip to the local mall to see the movie "Protocol" followed by a trip to McDonald's. We held hands and talked. I was in heaven. From that moment until today, Sue and I have been a couple. We were married less than 8 months after we met.

I found out sometime after we were married that, on Christmas Day (after our first encounter), she called one of her best friends and told her that she had just met the man she was going to marry! Her friend told her that she was crazy, but Sue had made up her mind that she and I were going to be married. And I'm so glad that she succeeded.

What a woman!!!

At summer camp - we were both counselors. We were engaged by the end of the summer. There's a lot to be said about seeing someone every day, all day - including in the AM before brushing your teeth, etc. (There was a long sink/trough thing in front of the cabins with a bunch of faucets where we brushed our teeth. Showers & mirrors were about 300 yds across the way.)

That was almost 28 yrs ago!

Didn't go to high school with my DH, because he lived in a different town. But he was a bag boy at the grocery store we shopped at and I thought he was so cute. I asked him to bring me some boxes to move my things to college and needless to say, the rest is history!! We will be married 30 years on our next anniversary!!!:)

We went to school together starting in junior high school.
Started dating our senior year in high school.
Got married our after our sophomore year in college.
June we will have been married for 29 years!!

On a very cold, blustery day in February two years ago. But we didn't start dating till the end of that year.

Luis and I went to Ohio State University together. After having done orientation and band tryouts together, sharing a few friends and a few classes together w/o meeting, we finally met through a mutual friend during a class we had our spring quarter our first year of college :)

My DH and I met in college in 1984. I was a 22 year old freshman and he was a 23 year old PhD student, both of us in computer sciences. My room mate and my (then) boyfriend, both CS grad students shared an office with him :). We started dating a year after we met, lived togther a year after trhat and we were married 8 years later. My room mate ended up marrying my ex-BF years before we got married! I was her maid of honor :).

We met at Burger King in the 9th grade through mutual friends. We started dating each other and only each other and were married 3 years later. We will soon celebrate our 13 year wedding anniversary. :)

At work. And for the record, I HATED him the first time I met him. ;)

Um.
My DH was dating my cousin when we met. Their affair was about to end anyway and I didn't cause the break up.

We've been married for 11 yrs and have a daughter. She moved on and has been with the same guy for nearly as long and has four children. My DH and cousin still get along very well, like family. :)

I put a personal ad in the newspaper on October 25, picked his letter out of 28 responses and met on November 4th. I asked my parents if I could bring someone to Thanksgiving dinner (Both parent's jaws dropped when I told them it was their future son-in-law). He proposed the end of November and we decided Christmas Eve that we were getting married New Years Eve after knowing each other 55 days. That was sixteen years ago.

March 5, 1975: A girlfriend and I had gone to a movie, when we came out we had to brush the snow off my Dad's car so we could leave. A car drove by and a guy hollered at us and threw a snowball. My friend wanted to follow them. We followed them and ended up parking in Penney's parking lot. My friend and DH's friend did most of the talking, DH and I just smiled mostly. We said we were going to be at the roller skating rink on Sunday. We left and I figured that was the end of it. He showed up at the skating rink and we skated together, and introduced ourselves. That night he came to the bowling alley where I bowled on a mixed doubles league with my Dad. A few days later we had a "triple date" with his two cousins and my two friends (movie and pizza), the next weekend we had a "family date" going to a gospel concert in a nearby town with his parents and two younger sisters, then finally on our third date, we were alone! :D We became engaged in May, and married September 27, 1975 so it's been over 27 years now and we're still best friends in love!!! :bounce:

We met playing HS water polo. I was 14 (freshman) and he was 15 (sophmore). He was dating a junior (named Amy) at the time, and he was soooo cute--I thought he was a lost cause for me. I may have been named Amy, too but I wasn't a junior or near as cute as he was.

We became friends, he and "bad Amy" broke up in the winter of that year, and we started dating over spring break. We have been together ever since. We married when I was 19 and he was 20, and we'll be celebrating our tenth anniversary in September :D .

University of Miami waiting for Carni Gras booths in the Student Union Breezeway. Our groups were side by side. He came to my aid after the leader of my group stuck a grass snake in my face. I freaked and went straight up the wall.
The next week I went on a hayride with the Baptist Student Center and he was my friend's date. By the end of the evening he was my date and she was with my old date. The rest is history.
