Where did you meet your DH/SO??

Well, my DW used to be the babysitter.

That usually gets the expected reactions, but it wasn't at all like you might be thinking. When I was very young and married to wife #1, she was the babysitter who watched our kids whenever we had something to go out to. She was recommended to us by my cousin, who was good friends with her. That was a long time ago and neither of us had any attraction towards the other way back then.

We started getting to know each other as friends after #1 and I split and I spent more time with my cousin. Over the next several years a relationship developed and we dated and eventually married. That was almost 24 years ago and still going strong.

We really like the reactions we get with the babysitter story :D

We met in a parking lot. He "picked me up" on the morning of July 4th, 1974. We ended up spending the entire day together and I knew when I awoke the next morning that I had just met the guy I would marry. Of course, he had no clue; he was busy dating three other girls that summer!

My BF and I met at a college function. It turned out to be a total bore and we spent the day together. My cousin gave him my number and now we are a couple

my DH and I met at a Gas Station, i knew when i seen him the first time that he was going to be my husband, took him awhile to think the same thing but we have been together 6 years and have been married going on 4 years. i swear God sent me an Angel, i was on drugs really bad and i did not care that i was killing myself, until i met him and he told me real quick it was either him or my bad habits. i know i made the right decision he is the best thing that has ever happened to me. i consider myself very lucky and very fortunate to have him in my life.

The first time I met him was at his Senior Prom......I was with someone else and barely remembered meeting him. Fast forward 4 months, we met at Burger King, we both worked there.

I used to babysit some of dh's friends and classmates - so I guess I have a babysitting connection too. We grew up in the same town but never knew each other since he is 5 years younger - I did know his cousins though. Our folks ran into each other in a restaurant -small town- were comparing notes and realized he was moving to the place I lived (in another state). My dad called and asked if he could pass on my number (dh's fathers idea) - just to meet for drinks and show him around town. We met and then he asked me out again. I went but would have turned down any further dates until he mentioned he had tickets to a concert I wanted to go to. I went and a romantic ferry ride there and back were enough to change my mind about him. We've been married 13 years.

Funny thing is, my FIL can't stand me. I get a wicked kind of pleasure out of thinking of him rueing the day he pestered my dad to pass on my phone number!

Small world out there especially when my DH and I are from the same county. Jason and I had a mutual friend. On the weekend of my birthday our friend told me I was not going to stay at home and mope and I was going to get on the next train and come hang out for the weekend. He said he and Jason would pick me up at the station. I thought another Jason because I didn't know he had 2 Jason's as a friend. So fine on the train I got to Mount Vernon West in Westchester. Off the train I go. Now ladies I don't believe in Love at first sight but as soon as I saw Our friend and then Jason I said (to myself of course) "wow I hope he's single" Needless to say we spent life together from that point on. Now this is where the small world fits in. Jason has 3 brothers but he has a different mother from the other three boys. I went to High School with his brother Jermaine. In that same weekend I met Jasons father who I immediatly knew as Jermaines Dad who I saw at Football games. I was stumped until I finally asked Jason. He told me that he was Jermaines brother and if I knew him. I did since we had alot of the same classes together and we chatted and teased eachother alot. We had great fun in HS. So when we married, Jermaine and I joke now we can't get rid of eachother...lol Jason and I also decided to marry on Valentines day....He's says to kill too holidays with one stone I klnow better than that...LOL :)
:p

At the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Yes, really!

He was with another girl, and I was with another guy, but we all were part of the "cast". After the show all 25-30 of us went to this diner after the show at 2-3 in in the morning.. and we just wound up talking and talking....

We wound up going to show and participating for years...

we've been together since 1990, and married since 1991.

Yes, we did the Time Warp at our wedding!

We meet at work!;) I was a secretary up stairs and he was a mechanic. He's still there and I went out to find a new job once we knew we were going to get married. Wasn't sure about the working together and being a couple. Now I'm home with the kids. Almost 16 yrs. later!!:D ;)

We met on a cruise. We got married after a 2 year long distance relationship

In highschool. We didn't start seeing each other until after he graduated, 2 years before me.

DH and I met our freshman year in college. I was taking a walk around campus with a new friend when DH came by riding his bike and in the process almost running me over. That was almost 10 years ago.... :)

Chow Hall in the Air Force. I asked her friend to go dancing who brought DW along. DW thought I was conceited, I told her I was convinced. :) The rest is a 25 year history.

OBTW, any story putting me in an unfavorable light told here by Mattsmom is purely a fabrication. Just go ahead and humor her.

;)

My best friend and I both joined the Air Force. I was stationed in California - he in Colorado.

I went to visit him for Christmas and met my wife when she came over to visit. Love at first sight, by the way! :)

My DH owned his own music store. My son was taking guitar lessons from him. After I met him and talked to him, and found out he was not married, I thought to myself "well, you are not married now, but you will be soon!" :D

just remember...you asked for it!! :teeth:

DH and i went to junior high together but didn't know each other. he was just way too cool to associate with the 7th graders (he was in 8th grade and only THOUGHT he was cool)...anyway, he knew my dad though. fastforward two years...i was a freshman and he was a sophomore. we had officially met at a church youth group function. we were both their with other friends and he and i hit it off. he worked in the mall...uncle jack's tacos to be exact...and being a teenage girl, i spent all of my time at the mall. it was april of 1988. i thought he was cute so my friend and i went up to the counter and ordered drinks. he flirted a bit, but that was it. i thought he was interested in my best friend. as tammy and i walked away, i took a sip of my dr pepper. it tasted horrible!!! so i went back up to the counter...i found out that he was trying to get me alone so he could ask me out! he had squirted hot sauce in my drink!! it worked and i gave him my phone number. we went on a double date (i was only 14 at the time and that was the only way dad would let me go). i later found out that after our date, he went home and told his mom that he had just met the girl he was going to marry!! we dated for almost two years...during that time, my parents actually took on legal guardianship of him. (he had a crummy family life) we moved from iowa to arizona...one day, he got into a HUGE fight with my parents and in his rage, he packed up and went back to des moines. we did the long distance thing for a bit, but it didn't work out...we broke up...lost track of each other...went our separate ways...fastforward to the year 2000. i get an e-mail from him!! we tried really hard to remain friends thru e-mail and chats...we were both involved in other relationships at the time...but it didn't work. after a year and a half of e-mails and chats, we decided that we had to see each other...we needed to know if the feelings were real. i flew out from indiana to california where he was. it was sept 6, 2001 when we saw each other again...we spent the weekend in santa ana, california (he was there on business)...went to disneyland...had a marvelous weekend! we both knew it was real...i flew back to indiana on sept 10, 2001. at the time, i had decided that we couldn't be together...but the ordeal of sept 11 changed my mind. i realized that life was too short and i needed to do what would make ME happy. DH flew to indiana on oct 11, 2001, and we've been inseparable ever since...we were married on sept 10, 2002...

whew!!! aren't you sorry you asked? :teeth:
great thread!!!!

We had mutual friends--a couple--he worked with the guy and I worked with the girl. We saw each other at thier ds 1st birthday party but we never spoke. We did ask often about the each other thru this couple. One day about 7 months later they were getting new carpet and dh was there helping so I decided to stop by and say hi. That was in 1995 and we have been together ever since.

Chris and I met online on August 1, 2000. On ICQ to be exact.

Funny thing is we used to hang out at the same movie theater when we were kids. I dont remember him, but the amount of time we spent there, I'm sure we would have ran into each other a time or two!
