Where did you meet your DH/SO??

We both worked at the same accounting firm and never even spoke with each other until we ended up on an audit job out of town at a bible college no less. I moved in with him a month later (I still can't believe I did that!) and we were engaged about a year later and then married a year after that. We still worked together until about a year after we were married and then we both left for other jobs. We've been together for over 10 years now.

No story for me as there is no special guy in my life right now. I just wanted to say that I’m really enjoying reading everyone’s stories. Thanks for sharing!

My husband and I were paired up in a wedding, his brother was marrying one of my best friend, we never met before the wedding, and the first thing that we did together was walk down the aisle....
He was wearing a black tux (he is a jean and sweatshirt person), and I was in a very pretty gown (I love sweats..)
We lived 2 hours apart but saw each other every week-end after the wedding, dated for 18 months got married, have been married 12 years.....His brother and my friend got divorced 6 months after we got married. We are still very thankful for their marriage

Scarlett: I always wanted to hear your story. You eluded to it, but never told it. I'm glad you finally ended up together.

Okay, here's by story. I moved from Meeteetse, WY to Green River, WY. In my mind, I had just moved to the big city (pop. 459 to pop. 5,000, lol) I was a junior in high school, so was he. We went to the same youth group, too. We did not like each other. I was a band nerd, he a jock. Our crowds did not co-mingle. I thought he was very stuck up, he thought the same about me. I was very shy and afraid, and only talked to the people I knew well. We had one class together.

Towards the end of our Senior year, we started talking. He'd had a girlfriend for two years, and was still dating her. She was also in our youth group, and a friend of mine. Her name was Penney, and deep down, I didn't really like her. I was beginning to have a crush on Stephen. We all went on a mission trip to Corvalis, OR in June, 79, just after we graduated. Stephen had given Penney one of the two-part necklaces that you give your girl/boyfriend. When we got to Corvalis, he met another girl, and gave her the other half of the necklace! All the girls were so mad at him. He didn't break up with Penney before he did that. She was so mad and hurt. When we got back, he continue to write (no email yet) and call the girl from OR. Then he started dating Pennie again. Then he called me. Ugh, what a jerk! He asked me out, then called back later that week and said he felt guilty going out on Penney (she was out of town that week) and asked if we could just meet at the park. We'd've been better off going to a movie, considering what transpired on the park bench late at night. He did not see me again after that on a date, but we remained friends (not sure why) all summer. He finally broke up with Penney in August, and continued to hang out with me. We water skiied, went bowling, to the mall, played games, just hung out. I moved to Wamsutter where I lived with the pastor and his family and pumped gas at a filling station in September. I came home on the weekend, we'd go out on a date, he'd ignore me on Sunday, I'd go back to Wamsutter on Monday and do the whole thing over again the next weekend. I hated my job and was continiously sexually harrassed by my boss, but felt I had to stay to prove something. I had no reason to move back, due to a bad home life with my parents. Stephen came out in December when the pastor I was living with was being ordained. He took me aside and told me he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I moved back to GR at the end of December, we were engaged on Valentine's Day, 1980, and married May 23 that same year. We will celebrate our 23 anniversary this May. I guess when he finally decided to commit, there was no turning back. He is no longer a jerk, btw. ;)

My DH owned his own music store. My son was taking guitar lessons from him. After I met him and talked to him, and found out he was not married, I thought to myself "well, you are not married now, but you will be soon!"

Heh heh! I like your spunk, newmousketeer! :)

Great Life Stories! Especially snoopy. Dh & I met at work in 1984. He's my Best Friend!

we met through our cousins who were dating at the time
I was dating someone else at the time
Our cousins eventually married five years later
He was the bestman and I was maid of honor
It took him 5 years from our first meeting to ask me out
and he has never let me forget that I turned him down the first time he asked me out
He did get the courage to ask me out again and the rest is history
that will be 10 years ago this fall

I met Derek on match.com and boston.com/personals on August 8, 2002. I honestly feel that he is what I have been looking for "in all the wrong places". He is my soulmate and I can't wait for each day of my life I can share with him.

A co-worker fixed us up, after first calling at work to get the phone number of another co-worker that she was going to fix him up with. Luckily, I intercepted that call, got to meet him instead, and the rest is history!!!!!

The other co-worker is actually in her 40's now, still single, and every once in a while brings up the fact that my DH was supposed to be fixed up with her!

My DH was Lancelot and I was Guinevere in a dinner theatre production of "Camelot" in Allentown, PA. We were both married to others at the time and we became the community theatre "scandal"! That was 24 years ago and we've been married for 22 years this year. The man who played King Arthur performed our marriage ceremony, as he was a minister!

Well my fiance Mark (Chunkster20uk) and I met through these very boards!! Well, the UK side of them anyway:) :) :)

Met, fell in love and are getting married in May:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Wow!! I just want to say I really enjoyed reading all of these!! How romantic some of your "beginnings" were!!! Sure beats my car trouble story!!!;) :jester:

I can't believe all the internet romances! How cool!:smooth:

I met my DH in a bar. He was playing in the band and my sister was dating his partner. He had a honey voice and played guitar like a dream. I fell like a ton of bricks. So did he.

He worked for my ex-husband and had been one of my ex's best friends. His father died suddenly at the age of 52 at the same time my brief marriage broke up. We were both devastated at what was happening in our lives and we would cry together. We became best friends for several years. We would call each other after we went on dates with others to try and analyze why our dating lives were so miserable until we finally realized we really loved each other. We've been together almost 20 years and he is still my best friend.
