With Valentine's fast approaching........where did you and your SO meet??

My DH and I went to high school together but never dated (or even talked for that matter!!) then. Ten years later, he moved next door to my sister. I ended up having "car trouble" out in front of his house......kind of hoping to meet him:teeth:

He came out and fixed my car..............and well.......now 18 yrs later he's still fixing our cars!!!!:jester:

A friend had us meet at a bowling alley as kind of a 'get to know each other' kind of thing....it will be 9 years ago this April 23rd...:)
can't remember if i let her win or not..:o

My fiance and I went to high school together, but we were only briefly introduced. The summer after graduation we met again while working at the grocery store before starting college and started dating. That was 4 and a half years ago. :)

I met him at a mall where I worked in one of the stores and he was a security guard. We met on Christmas Eve....I was scheduled to work and did NOT want to be there. I wanted to be at my parents' house which was traditional for Thom and me. However, a security guard came in and looked at a 49ers calendar and said something about wondering whether Jerry Rice would be back with them the next year. I had an opinion (and I'm usually shy so I don't know what it was that made me state my opinion) which was "I think he's pretty settled in the area and his heart is with the team so he'll stay." The security guard said "I hope you're right since the 49ers are my team" and then introduced himself. We became best friends pretty quickly and stayed just friends until Thom and I separated.

At a hockey game! (NHL team - the California Golden Seals - no longer in existence!) wow - 30 years ago!

Went to the same high school (he didn't know I existed, LOL). All the girls had a crush on him, so I figured he would never look at me. He was a senior and I was a sophmore. After his class graduated, we both ended up at a mutual friends graduation party and the rest as they say is history. We have been together (dating and married) 25 years.....WOW more than 1/2 my life:)

I was in a car accident. DH was the insurance adjuster.

June 30, 2003 will be 25 years from the accident/first meeting.

We were lab partners in physics lab our freshman year of college.

I first met my future DH when I was 11 and he was 13. My brother and he were good friends, and my brother brought him home one day to ride dirt bikes at a park near where we lived. The first time I saw him he was covered in mud, but I could see he had the most gorgeous blue eyes I had ever seen. Of course he didn't know I existed, I was only 11. He eventually became almost another member of our family, he and my brother did everything together. Then when I got to be about 13, my brother told me that DH thought I was pretty, and we just happened to have a Sadie Hawkins dance at school, so I invited him. After our first date I told my mother I was going to marry him, she nearly had a heart attack! She liked him, but she didn't want me to date just one boy. I never took her advice, and we ended up marrying a little less than 10 years later. She and my father were so happy when I married him though, by that time, they had grown to love him as much as I did.

So this August will be married 16 years, and we have known each other for 28 years. :) Geez, that makes me feel sooooooo old!

I was 20 and on a womans softball team. He was helping to coach. I told my cousin that he was the man I was going to marry. A little while later a team mate introduced him as her BF:o
We had mutual friends and ended up dating 4 years later. :)

College. Accounting 201 class, sophomore year of college, to be more exact. :)

Eric and I met at a bar called Trito's (now closed) in Champaign, IL. I was a freshman and he was a junior at U of I. The weird thing was because I was 18, I was technically not supposed to be in a bar (I heard the music and I wanted to dance) AND he had only come to this bar because he let a friend of his use his ID and he came to retrieve it. He is not a bar person and he didn't drink. The guy that introduced us lived down the street from him back home.

One more weird thing, his father was my stepfather's manager--and they couldn't stand each other!!

But, that was almost 14 1/2 years ago and we have been happily married for almost 8 1/2 years. Everyone is cordial now.

Nice thread.

Awww.. snoopy - that's the sweetest!!

DH and I met at the Bristol Renaissance Faire near Kenosha, WI. I was there that weekend helping out a friend (boyfriend at the time) and he was there with all his friends. They all go there one weekend - huge group from Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, and quite a few others. I was meeting a fellow wench, who happened to be his friend, that I had met online and she was introducing me around this huge group. I ended up talking to this weird guy who was losing his voice. And when I said I had to get back to the booth, he said he'd walk with me. I couldn't shake him until I almost got to the booth. He found me again at the drum jam at closing. I had to push him towards the gate since he wouldn't leave. Anyway, after I got back home to Florida, he emailed me. (Got it from another mutual friend.) And we just kept in touch and saw each other every so often. He kept asking me to move up to where he was and I finally said ok. We've been married almost 4 months, but lived together for 3 years this Easter.

I still think he's a weird guy. But a good one. :)

Through a mutual friend. We met in 1984, I was a senior in high school and he was a freshman in college. We got married in 1988, it will be 15 years in July.:D

BTW, very interesting stories!;)

I met Mandy in a Haunted House. Its was a very large and elaborate production. I was one of the actors and Mandy was on the kitchen crew (no small job with over 200 cast and crew memebrs to feed). I had seen her around and was wanting to ask her out, but never got a chance to talk to her. We met for the first time on opening night went I went into the kitchen to grab some food. I was in full prostetic make up, so I looked a bit different. In fact. I looked like this....

Yup, that was me under all that laytex. Great first impression, eh? Well, apparently the makeup didn't scare her off (some say I looked better that way (LOL)) . We were married 14 months later.

On a side note, I mentioned my interest in Mandy to a friend before I first talked to her. He told me she was already engaged. He was lying. Turns out he wanted to date her too and was trying to get rid of the competition.

We met in college....DH and his room-mate let me and my room-mates cut ahead of them in line at the liquor store. How romantic, I know. I think they just wanted to see if we'd get carded so they would have a heads up!;) married 16 years.

Steve and I met in college. My 5 roomates and I lived in the apartment next door to him and his 5 roomates. I couldn't stand him, but eventually that changed and we started dating. Ironically enough, 3 of my roomates married 3 of his roomates. We are all still married to each other and still see each other when we can.
