Where did this heat and all these people come from? The new PTR/TR link 5/7

Great update!! So glad you were able to have a nice relaxing morning at DTD!! I so love Downtown Disney!! It's a great place to shop and eat!!!

OOOH EPCOT!! Can't wait to hear about your morning there!!

An update?!?!? :cool1:

DTD shopping is always fun! :yay:

It is high time you sat down to watch Princess and the Frog.
It's good!

Lovely pictures of DTD...brings back fond memories!

Sadly, I didn't make it to EoS in May or October so your food porn pictures made me realise how much I missed the food there. :sad1:

Sounds like a lovely morning at DTD! This was a slow day for us too, and I remember Epcot being PACKED that night :crowded:

You are lucky to have done DTD that morning...that evening it was crazy crowded. I just updated my TR with the exact same timeframe that you just posted about...how crazy is that? :lmao: The morning of May 7. Better late than never, right??? :rotfl: Looks like you guys had a fun time shopping!

I'm so excited some of you are still around  :yay:

Wait! Are you kidding? Are you going to be there then???? Denny and I actually have a reservation for the week after Thanksgiving. Well - we have a reservation for one night - the Monday after T'giving on the premium package. We have tentative plans to fly down Sunday, stay at Pop for three nights (one night on the premium package, 2 nights room only) and then 3 nights DVC. That would be so fun if we were there the same week again. Denny said he would be ready to go again by then!

OK - back to read!

Well, nothing is firm yet...but I'm working on Greg (who doesn't like the idea of me and the boys taking a week off school, he wouldn't be able to come probably because it's basketball season) I turn 40 the Wed after Thanksgiving and have said for several years that's how I want to celebrate! If it pans out, we will probably also do Sun-Sat staying at POP!! :woohoo: Oh I'm so excited you may be there too!!!!

Great update! What a beautiful day that was. That was the day I got to go up to the roof of the WL. So much fun! Love your pictures. I hear ya on the DxDP. You get to the point where you just want a regular sandwich, something basic. Glad you got to go back to Epcot and that you woke up refreshed and ready to go!

That was a beautiful day! I don't remember it being quite as hot but perhaps I just stayed inside a bit more :confused3 Earls was a great choice for some basic but ymmy fare :thumbsup2

It was nice to not rush on to the next destination. We just wandered and enjoyed the smaller crowds...and shopping of course ;)

I really do need to see it! Like I said, I've rented it twice but it's sometimes hard for me to carve out some quiet time with the TV to myself :sad2:

That was my first time there and I'm looking forward to the next :thumbsup2

Now that you mention it, was this the day we saw each other on the bus? Me headed to Epcot and you coming back to CSR for an afternoon break? I remember it being packed that afternoon but don't really remember the evening being too bad

Glad I'm not the only one stretching out our May trips! Gonna have to go catch your update!

You know, I think it was! That night was by far the busiest we had seen WS all week, take a look - it was nuts!

IMG_4451.jpg

Maybe we were just unlucky and in the middle of the crowd the whole time, but I remember a very busy night

Yayyyy you're back!! :yay:
DTD shopping is a must :thumbsup2 Love Basin....I have one and a half bars of MH soap till May..... Love the bath bombs....and the bath salts too :rolleyes1

Mmmmmm EOS....I always love seeing pictures from there....everyone has their own favorite :goodvibes

So you may have a return trip....you should totally go for your 40th....I had so much fun in October (my 40th was September :upsidedow) and we had a blast. I had a party one weekend during September and then celebrated with a few friends for a week in October...during F&W of course....that was a necessity!!!

Hmmm, I didn't see any crowds quite that bad that evening! Maybe they were all hanging out with you ;)

This afternoon we came home and I told Patrick I wasn't feeling great. He said, why don't you take a hot bath. so that's just what I did...with a bath bomb! When the boys saw the mickey heads come out of it, they started asking how I could get more  I may have to send you with a shopping list in May

the turkey sandwich was good but there are quite a few I want to try so I will definitely go for something else next time...the Italian or the BLT!

It seems almost poetic that you have a b-day during F&W :lmao:

Now that I know we are staying at CSR on our trip, I get super excited to see any pics from there -- even ones of the coke machines at the bus stops!

Sounds like a lovely day at Downtown Disney! Love those Basin Mickey soaps, and if I had to put in an order at Goofy's right now, I think I would choose that coconut covered rice krispy treat! That sure looks good!

Other than those gross fingerprints and smudges all over the desk, we were really happy with CSR! Beautiful and relaxing!!

the coconut one would be my choice too :thumbsup2

Day 7 Continued

After a successful morning of shopping, Shelby and I brought our packages back to the resort and I made my way to Epcot.

94.jpg

One thing I noticed as the buses pulled in was a large number of school busses in the lot. Quickly I started to notice a number of groups that looked like this

1794.jpg

Luckily, most of them seemed to be headed toward the front of the park while I was headed in. My first destination was the Visa meet and greet. We did this in 2008 and basically walked right in. Well, this day was different! The line didn’t look that long but people were definitely taking their time with the characters. I just killed time by people watching and reminding myself how hot it was outside!

1795.jpg

As I approached the front of the line, the family in front of me asked the CM which characters were there today and she told them Minnie and Goofy. I must confess, I was a bit bummed about that…the same characters that were there in 2008 and ones I had already seen on this trip. I made a comment to the other family that had I known that, I might not have decided to get in line but I had waiting all that time so why leave now! When the other family came out, the mom came over to me and said “you’re going to be happily surprised!” Sure enough, I walked in and found….MICKEY!!! I hadn’t seen him yet and I was VERY happy!

96.jpg

I may have perhaps annoyed Minnie but reminded her that we had gotten to see each other at breakfast the other day and she seemed OK with that!

100.jpg

I had a few postcards to send to friends and family and they both signed them and took a few more pictures

108.jpg

As I was starting to leave…another surprise…Goofy appeared!!

113.jpg

So after a few more pics and autographs, I made my way back out into Epcot with a big smile on my face. My next visit was to

1796.jpg

The topiaries here were neat

1798.jpg

1800.jpg

1815.jpg

And the butterfly house interesting

1804.jpg

1814.jpg

But it was pretty crowded so I didn’t linger too long.

1824.jpg

Had to take a pic of the Tron monorail.

1826.jpg

I didn’t see the movie, not really my thing. Interesting note though (which I didn’t know at the time), this movie was directed by an alum of the high school where I now work!

I stopped for another couple PP pics

116.jpg

From here I decided to head over to WS for some more wanderings.

1827.jpg

Since our dinner plans were on the other side and I hadn’t spent much time on the left side yet, my first stop was Mexico. I admired some of their glassware

1829.jpg

I have a feeling I wouldn’t be able to leave WS under my own power if they filled this with a tequila cave margarita!! Then I went for a boat ride.

1835.jpg

1847.jpg

1850.jpg

1855.jpg

It was cute, I hadn’t done it before. I figured I would next take a boat ride in Norway but the wait was longer than interested me so I just wandered around a bit.

1862.jpg

1864.jpg

1923.jpg

In my wanderings, I found my way into the bakery and picked up a few things to enjoy for breakfast the next day. Next up, being good disers as you all know, was China

1868.jpg

A performance was coming up so I found a slightly shady spot to sit on the ground and thought I might just take a bite of this little delicacy…

1865.jpg

O…M…G!!!!!! It was WAY more amazing than I ever imagined!!!!! So good, and I SO wish I had one right now!! As you might guess, it never made it to breakfast and no, Shelby never got to try it (shhh, our secret OK!) Soon the show began.

1877.jpg

I couldn’t decide if I was impressed or creeped out by some of these girls tricks. Wow they are flexible!

1881.jpg

These boys were really cute

1885.jpg

1889.jpg

And these girls were quite impressive!

1894.jpg

1897.jpg

1903.jpg

I’m glad I took the time to watch, I heard their troupe is leaving WS. It was time for a little drink, I chose the Peach Snap. It was really good!

1915.jpg

I spent a little more time walking around China, I really love this pavilion!

1912.jpg

1908.jpg

About this time, Shelby called to tell me she was getting off the bus so we decided to meet in front of Norway. It was a good thing because I had missed this guy earlier.

1919.jpg

After finding Shelb, we meandered a bit with no true purpose

1927.jpg

We stopped in Italy for a couple drinks. I had a Bellini, I’m not certain what Shelby had but I think it was a non-alcoholic frozen something or other

1929.jpg

And stood in the back and listened briefly to Davy Jones. Not really my thing so we quickly moved on

1935.jpg

Until we finally reached Japan. I had decided that my special souvenir for this trip was going to be….drumroll please…pick a pearl! I had my heart set on a colorful one, pink or champagne colored or even silver. Or perhaps if I was really lucky, twins that I could put into a pair of earrings.

1939.jpg

Now I’m sure a pearl purist would say I was lucky because mine was snow white but I have to confess to having been a bit bummed.

1941.jpg

I had looked at a pearl cage before the trip but had decided I didn’t want to hide it in a cage so I looked at the different setting options and my favorite was a necklace for 2 pearls and since I really wanted a colored pearl, this was my excuse to pick a second

1942.jpg

1944.jpg

This one was just slightly pink and just about the same size. They look really nice together and I left happy! Shelby wanted a little something so we stopped at the sake stand. She debated a bit but settled on the plum wine. She also got a little cup with her daughter’s name written on it to bring home

1948.jpg

I’d had the wine before and just had a sip but it was as yummy as I remember. While pouring, the bottle ran out and the girl had to open another. The bottles contain several small plums in the bottom and Shelby asked if they ever eat them. The girl said yes and asked her if she would like one. We each took half and WOW…booze soaked plums are good!!

About this time, we needed to head off to our dinner ADR, but that will have to wait for another update!

Sounds like you had a great afternoon wandering around Epcot!

Funny, I tried the school bread for the first time this trip too and thought it was just alright, I was much more impressed with the cloudberry horn. :thumbsup2 Different strokes!

Glad you were able to get a colored pearl after all, I bet your necklace is really pretty.

 as soon as I saw your little treat from Norway I knew it wasn't going to last until breakfast!!! Silly girl!! ;)
Love your PP pictures--even though I have seen them all!!! :rolleyes1 I remember being very jealous of your soarin picture!!! Way cool!!! :thumbsup2
Do you have pictures of your pearl setting? Sounds pretty :goodvibes Love that store....hmmmm I didn't know you could be served drinks inside....:rolleyes1
Looks like you got a lot done and had a good morning before Shelby caught up to you :)

Tracy

The pictures with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy are adorable! How fun to have one with all three of them!

Oh, how I would like to try a wine-soaked plum now!

Beautiful memories of your day at Epcot. I think I'm going to have to pick me a pearl NEXT time....!

Glad you got to see Mickey, Minnie AND Goofy.

Yay! Updates! I'm still here!!!! So glad you decided to continue with the TR.

I am loving all your F&GF pictures, they make me even more excited to see it myself next month! I like your reasoning for picking out two pearls too :rotfl: Did you take a pic of it, or all the goodies from DTD? I love pics of the swag! ;)

Still here! Just slow to catch up.

Loved the trip to Downtown Disney. Can't wait to stock up at Basin. I love Earl of Sandwich too. I'd like to try Wolfgang Puck Express but somehow EoS always wins.

Thank you for all the pics of F&G. I am super excited to see all the topiaries in May. I last went for F&G in ~2006 so I'm sure lots has changed but I know I loved it then. Epcot is so pretty with the extra flowers! ::yes::

Funny you should mention pick a pearl. I think between you and MEK I am now convinced to give this a go in May.

Ahh... the bellini in Italy. :cloud9:

Loving your new ticker. Another potential trip to plan! :cheer2:

Katie -

What a great time in Epcot! Thank you for posting all the topiaries because they remind me of how much I missed last May, but how much I have to see THIS May. I am totally excited and actually forgot about that!

I LOVE your first pearl. It really is snow white. Did you pick a setting for the pearls. Jen and I each picked on in May

Jen's is on the bottom and mine is on the top. You can be sure I will be wearing my pearl back to Epcot in May.

I love the picture of you in that hat in China. Very cute. You got some great pictures!
