Where did this heat and all these people come from? The new PTR/TR link 5/7

Should have gone with the cheesecake...just sayin'. :rolleyes1;):rotfl2:

I love Brown Derby, I think it's my favorite place to eat at Disney. I love where you were seated too, I always eye those seats, they seem so glamorous up there, don't ask me why but they seem even more special. :rotfl2:

I never get the cowboy!!!!! Sorry you didn't enjoy the Great Movie Ride, it's one of my favorites. I think mainly that is because it was the first Disney 'ride' that I ever went on, so it holds a special place in my heart :goodvibes

hey katie! great pics from DHS!! Glad you got the Cowboy scene...I've never ridden that ride before and I'm thinking it wouldn't be that big of a deal if I missed it the next time?! LOL...anyway, loving your food porn. That salad was huge...I'm glad Beth was able to help you! Your Entree looked soooo good!! Can't wait for more!

Love the food porn and that cobb salad. Glad to see that Beth was having a good time. Hope she's doing well.

The Streetmosphere actors are so funny! Long ago, I didn't pay too much attention to them, but as I slowed down, out of physical need, I began to stop and watch them. They are a great part of Hollywood Studios! I did hear that they were going to (or just did) get rid of one set of players, but I sure hope they don't lose more.

I have not been to Brown Derby. Since Jill said she wants to go without kids, that means I get to go with her someday or I get to babysit while she and John go. Maybe I'll get some leftover scraps of grapefruit cake, if that's the case. If she gets the cheesecake, I don't hold out hope for leftovers.

Too bad that little girl is growing up to hear the racist comments from her mother. She will just come to accept those things as she grows up, I'm afraid. :sad2:

What a fun afternoon! Hurrah for getting the cowboy scene. I'm not sure if I've ever seen it. I agree on the ride in general... not my favorite. Seems like it might be time to update the attraction. :confused3

So glad you tried Brown Derby. I think I sat at that very same table once. It's a great spot for people watching!!

Your meal at the BD looks amazing. How in the world did you eat all that and not have to go in the AC and take an hour nap? Hey wait - maybe you did???? AI by any chance?

Your FP pictures turned out great! That's so great that you got some with Michelle.

Booooo to the racist comment. Don't those things just make your ears burn?

Ewww to the rhino butt picture. That is really hysterical. :rotfl:

I love that you took picures in GMR. They turned out super fantastic. Its not my favorite ride, but I really enjoyed those pictures.

Nice update! Very funny!

Excellent update. I could watch the streetmosphere for an entire day. I want to try Brown Derby someday (without children!)

They were one of the "soak it in" goals for this trip. Lots of fun!

BD was very good! It will go on my do again someday list!

Great update. Your pictures are terrific -- so clear. I love The Wizard of Oz too. The Great Movie Ride really needs a major rehab -- new stuff, new ending, etc. We'll do it in September only because Mark can only do it and a few other things at the Studios after his back surgery this trip. I'm glad you enjoyed your meal at BD. We went seven years ago -- we weren't impressed and haven't been back.

I think I disliked it so much last time because we waited so long and the kids weren't handling it well then the ride was a let down after that. I said I would only go on it this trip if I didn't have to wait and I basically walked right on but still was underwhelmed...live and learn!

Sorry to hear you didn't care for BD. I've only heard good things about it, might be worth another try if you don't have other favorites in DHS

Great update!!! Now I have a fierce craving for both the Cobb Salad and the Grapefruit Cake. Yum!!!

You have some great shots of the Streetmosphere people and the handprints!!!

Wouldn't that make a devine lunch today? :cloud9:

Thanks :) I did a lot more wandering today while solo!

Next time I guess...

My seat was pretty nice. I had a nice view of the rest of the place without feeling conspicuous. Other than a waitress that wasn't very good (I think she was new), my experience was very good!

I never get the cowboy!!!!! Sorry you didn't enjoy the Great Movie Ride, it's one of my favorites. I think mainly that is because it was the first Disney 'ride' that I ever went on, so it holds a special place in my heart :goodvibes

Next time, just ask! They didn't even bat an eyelash when I requested the cowboy.

I wonder if part of the reason I don't feel the draw of GMR is that I haven't seen most of the movies that are in it :confused3 I like the concept, just don't care for specifics of this ride.

I figure I want to try every attraction disney has to offer eventually (except for Stitch...I absolutely refuse!) This just happens to be one I won't feel the need to return to

the salad was huge! Pair it with the bread and a dessert and it would be a great meal by itself! (but the pork chop was very yummy too!! )

As I type this, a commercial for the free dining plan is on TV and making me long for a return visit :guilty:

Love the food porn and that cobb salad. Glad to see that Beth was having a good time. Hope she's doing well.

Beth update:
Her nerve block procedure worked surprisingly well (her doctors didn't have a lot of hope but it was a last ditch effort) Unfortunately, the first surgery was a temporary experiment and she had the electrodes removed after a week. She is now suffering again while waiting for the permanant surgery at the end of the month. I'm hoping to go visit her next weekend. Thanks for asking!

I totally walked right past them in 2008, just too many other distractions! But with my soak it in attitude for this trip, I really enjoyed listening to them. I had heard they would no longer have the plumbers?

Put BD on your mom and daugther trip list! (and Jill, let your mom have some of your cheesecake!)

I agree, that attitude comes from how you are raised and it's terrible it still exists in this day!

Keeping my fingers crossed for Beth that the final procedure works like the trial one did. My grandfather had a very similar operation for sciatica, his temporary electrode worked like a charm and he felt great. The permanant one, not so much, I truly hope Beth has better results.

So glad you tried Brown Derby. I think I sat at that very same table once. It's a great spot for people watching!!

I do wonder if I would enjoy it more with different movie scenes? :confused3

I had a pretty late lunch ADR so there weren't a lot of people in the dining room but it was a nice spot to feel like I didn't stand out.

Great update! That cobb salad always looks so good...mmmm...

I have to admit, I tried the cobb salad because of everyone elses reviews of it. I liked it more than I thought I would!

It was still early enough into my trip that I surprised myself by how much I managed to put away :lmao: My consumption definitely slowed down as the days passed!

I just walked away from the comment because I don't like conflict. sometimes I wish I was more comfortable speaking up and telling strangers what I think! I recently saw an "experiment" on (I think) 20/20 where an actress in a grocery line made terrible comments about a down syndrome actor who was bagging to see how others in line would react. It's sad how few people spoke up in his defense.:sad2:

AT least the hot weather didn't spoiled your wonderful Disney adventure

First, :welcome: to the Dis!! Glad you found my TR!!

Second, I had to click on the link in your signature because Yellowstone is right up there with Disney in my ideal vacation (in my dreams, I would live near Yellowstone during the summer and near WDW in the winter!) I  the Hebgen Lake area. It is SO beautiful there!!! I was a geology major in college and have visited the landslide several times and always loved telling it's story when I taught earthquakes. Do you live there?

Oh no! Gosh I hope her second procedure works as well as her first!

Great update! Now I am wanting cobb salad.

Totally agree!! YUM

My goodness, I am very behind. I am only up to page 11. How are you already on page 21?

Going back to catch up

I sometimes sleep through the GMR -- I know the story so well now. ;)

I doubt we'll go back to BD. We've decided mostly against signature restaurants because we have so many fine dining establishments in Chicago and I don't like sitting for 2 or 2-1/2 hours for a meal (and I'm not a fancy food eater). We were just very disappointed in our service at BD (five tables occupied the entire time there and we were there for over 2 hours because our waiter could have cared less; I had to send my meal back twice and Mark hated that grapefruit cake). I do want to try Artist Point and Yachtsman...but that's about it. We like Sci Fi for lunch and/or Mama Melrose--we're not big fans of the food at the Studios.

Where in Iowa are you? My son is at school in Dubuque.

I heart Brown Derby! I have had so many amazing meals there! I have also had the pork dish and you are right it was to die for...so yummy! Wish I could have that for lunch today!!!!

Love your DHS pictures! I really want to spend an entire morning just interacting with the Streetsmophere people some day!!!

YAY for cowboy scene!! GMR is one of my faves, but I could see where some could take it or leave it!!

YAY for another great update!

We have yet to try Brown Derby....just can't part with two table credits for that one yet.....but maybe we will have to try it next time OOP....we always have issues at DHS on where to eat, so that might solve that problem next time around. Sounds like you had a great afternoon and a wonderful lunch!!! Can't wait to see what you take in next!

Really? Not like the GMR? My kids love it and in all the times we've ridden it, we've only had the cowboy scene once! Lucky you!

I've never tried the BD, so I enjoyed seeing your pictures of your meal. I would have tried the grapefruit cake too--which is funny, because I don't like grapefruit, so I might be like you and not like the cake either. :confused3

How did Beth enjoy the meal? ;)
