I'm way more familiar with the dw resorts and how to research those on disboards. Is it just a thread or one whole forum devoted to dl resorts and good neighbor hotels?? Thanks for help!

Check out Hydroguy's thread for DLR newbies. There is a link to reviews and accommodation info. The DLR section of the forum isn't separated into various components like WDW is, it's just all on the one board. If you have a specific hotel you want to find more information about, try using the search function.

For good neighbor hotels you'll find tons of information using the search function on this board.

I just made my 4th Disney trip and have stayed at the Fairfield Inn all 4 times. Howard Johnson's, Candy Cane Inn, BWPPI, and Desert Inn all also seem to be popular and I also saw a recent thread on the Tropicana that was positive.

Thanks to everyone! This is all so different from dw. Any other suggestions and tips are welcome as far as attractions, resorts, restaurants, I guess, any of it.

My advice, read through HydroGuy's superthread, it is amazingly useful and will answer many of your questions. There is very wide consensus here in the DLR forum that his is the very first thing to read about DLR for WDW vets, and it will get you up to speed about DLR (layout, differences, similarities, hotels, etc.) pretty quickly. Then head back here into this thread and ask your fill-in/follow-up questions. Also, welcome!!!

I second this.

The one thing I would say is that a DLR trip has a whole different feel than a WDW trip. It's a far more relaxed touring style. There are only a few attractions you need to strategise for (the ones that come to mind are RSR, TSM and Frozen character meets). Pretty much everything else, you can just grab a FP for, or ride when the line is short. There really aren't any TS restaurants that you need to get ADRs for as soon as bookings open, although there are some that you would be wise to book within the first week if you have a specific day/time you need, or a large party.

Enjoy!
