Where is that????? Sounds AWESOME!!!!! :dance3:

Do yourself a favor and kick the habit. If you don't have time before vacation, wait until after. It can be done, I had one of the worst Mt. Dew addictions known to man. I would consume between 3-4 liters a day (when I added up the calories that equalled it was astounding). The headaches I would get if for some reason I didn't get my fix were unbearable. I used caffiene pills when I quit, slowly weening myself off over a couple weeks. I now rarely drink any caffiene, and never anything loaded with it like Mt. Dew. It has been a few years now and I feel much better.
Very smart post..soda on its own is terrible for you. Add all that caffeine and it's worse. My sisters dermatologist told her all that sugar is bad for your skin too - she kicked her soda habit and her skin cleared up.

But we all have addictions I guess.

After you cross the bridge from Discovery Island to Asia it is on the right.

Mountain Dew is so high in caffeine by UK standards that it isn't allowed to be sold as a 'soft drink' and has to be sold as an 'energy' drink!

It gives me an instant headache if I haven't had it in a while. :hyper:

We can only get the yellow kind though, so that's why I need to order Code Red in when I get to WDW!

This strikes me as one of those rumors that gets circulated around the internet, without any basis in fact. I could certainly be wrong, but my guess would be that they choose to market it with the word "energy".

Yeah, MD has more caffeine than most other sodas, but it's not nearly as much as most people think. For a coffee drinker, the amount of caffeine in MD is almost irrelevant.

12 oz can of Mountain Dew - 54mg
12 oz can of Mello Yello - 53mg
12 oz can of Diet Coke - 47mg
12 oz can of Dr. Pepper - 42mg
12 oz can of Pepsi - 38mg
12 oz can of Coke Classic or Coke Zero - 35mg
12 oz brewed coffee - 150mg to 250mg
1 oz Espresso - 60mg to 70mg

So you'd have to drink 3 MD's to get the same amount of caffeine as one normal sized cup of coffee. You'd have to drink a six-pack to get the equivalent caffeine of a venti brewed coffee from Starbucks.

When I quit, I looked up the caffiene content of Mt Dew relative to other drinks and I was surpised to see that coffee has so much more caffiene. I think that for me the problem was with the quantity I drank in order to avoid headaches. Also I have never seen anyone chug a coffee like I would chug a Dew if I was particuarly hot or thirsty. The Caffiene is what I was addicted to, but my concerns that led to quitting was the ridiculous amount of sugar (and corresponding calories) that I was consuming. Once I kicked the habit, I just decided to avoid caffiene altogether (as much as possible) in order to avoid falling back into the same issue. I did the same thing with smoking, I used to smoke almost 2 packs a day before I quit and I avoid having a even 1 cigarette for fear that I could easily go back to old habits. Although, a couple years after I stopped drinking the dew, I had one on a long drive down to WDW and it tasted sickly sweet to me.

On another note, someone mentioned that MD in Canada has no caffiene. I learned that the hard way. It took me a couple days to figure out that my headache was a result of this. After that I began bringing my own with me on our trips to Canada.

That's why I swear it is something more than caffeine that causes the withdrawal headaches - I've never been successful in subbing coffee, cola or tea for Mt Dew to avoid the headaches when I'm traveling. Although at Disney part of the issue is their lousy coffee - Nescafe has only 65mg of caffeine, much more comparable to soda than brewed coffee, and I just can't drink coffee at the rate I was drinking soda!

Could have something to do with the orange juice thats in it too. Your body may crave the vitamin C.

I used to being my own Diet Mt. Dew until I kicked the habit. THAT was one of the worst 4 days of my life! FLU x2!

Since WDW and Universal sell Coke products, I can understand them not selling Mountain Dew, but what about Dr Pepper? DS is addicted to that and we couldn't find it either place last summer. What's up with that?

The Hess near DTD is not on Disney property, which is why you can buy pepsi products there.

The Hess across from DTD is on WDW property and does not carry Pepsi products. We stop at that Hess station nearly every trip to fill up before we hit the road. I nearly always forget they don't cary Dew and go in there to buy one just to be disappointed.

We drive so we bring plenty of Dews for the the three of us. I didn't realize there were so many Dew addicts out there. Maybe I should bring a bunch of them and sell them in parking lot to fund my vacations. :lmao: Just kidding of course.

Bring it with you, or have it shipped to your resort. I will be bringing a case of Diet Dr. Pepper with me! Dr. Pepper is really big in Texas, and we have it EVERYWHERE, but it seems like it is not the case when I am out of state. I have to bring it because Diet DP is my morning coffee! I stop at McD's almost every morning for a large diet DP for only a buck

Dr Pepper is also not a Coke product. Well at least in the US and Canada.

The whole Coke Dr Pepper issue is complicated. Coke only makes Dr Pepper outside of North America.

So, is it an independent product or what? It's never on sale with Coke or Pepsi products:confused3

I can totally relate!! except my addiction is vanilla coke zero-- i dont know if i could go a day without it!
I'm afraid they don't even sell it in FL..... i may have to stick to coke zero

Calling Nescafe "coffee" is an insult to coffee. I'm not surprised that it has so much less caffeine since it's more like coffee flavored water.

Ok, this thread has made me go out to get a bottle of MD.

For scientific purposes, of course.

We can only get it in 500ml bottles (16.9oz)

Now per 100ml (3.38oz) there is 18mg caffeine so per 16oz there is 85mg.

Which I guess means our MD is much higher than yours.
