Where can I get a good rain poncho for 7 people in the resort area?

Well, you're probably soaked by now, but I would think you could get Disney ponchos at any Disney hotel, in the biggest gift shop. If you're in a park, pop into the nearest gift shop and ask; if they don't have any, ask for the closest location which does sell them.

Buy the Disney ponchos, they are more expensive but they do last. I’ve had the same one for 5 years. Ask at a register if you don’t see them displayed.

Years ago the Mexico Pavilion sold a big sombrero that could keep 5 dry. Can’t deal with wearing a plastic bag in the heat and humidity.

It’s so true and the plastic bag type are the only ones that work to keep you dry. I have a rain jacket but that doesn’t work for a Florida downpour. Even some umbrellas leak through.

I have a Northface raincoat that does work in Florida downpours. I carry a mini umbrella too, but that is to attempt to keep my shoes dry. All bets are off if things aren’t draining properly and you can’t avoid the puddles…

Buy a pack of thick hair ties or rubber bands to keep them rolled up after you dry them out in your room overnight. They pack down into a small roll that is easy to throw in a backpack.

Not sure that this is still done, but it has been the case that if something goes wrong with a Disney poncho, any shop selling them will trade it for a new one.

I had a couple of the side snaps come off one I'd had for a few years. Took it to our resort's gift shop and asked for a new one. CM took a quick look at that one and handed me a new one, no questions.

The Disney ponchos are very durable, as stated above. We have one we bought almost 10 years ago that's looking a bit yellowish but otherwise still in great shape.

Definitely worth the price, IMO.

As others have said - pop into any gift shop and buy the Disney ones. They are great. I had one rip a few years ago that I'd had for several years and went into a shop to ask if I could use their stapler to try and close up the rip - the CM just laughed and handed me a new poncho

We also keep them in ziplock baggies in the back pack to keep everything more organize. Also helps to keep things dry in your backpack after it rains and you need to store them. Just remember to dry them out overnight

Yes a true waterproof one will work but a lot of them sold as rain jackets are just water resistant which don’t work in a downpour. I just bought waterproof On sneakers for our Iceland cruise and I’m looking forward to see how they hold up to a Disney downpour too.

I think we might even still have some of the old yellow style ponchos from ds26's first trip in 2000.
They last for so long.

Any poncho is only going to do so much.....I use ponchos but you still get wet...the key is attitude and having some dry clothes to change into or crocks vs sneakers/socks when it will rain....I view rain as an opportunity to get in lots of attractions when it stops because everyone left.

So true. Being able to quick change into flip flops during rain, then keeping a backpack beneath the poncho helps.
It’s a miserable time to be walking for miles in soaking wet sneakers and socks.

So true! I wore a poncho on Kali River Rapids--some other woman handed it to me as she got off the ride. At a crucial moment, the wind blew the poncho up, I got splattered, and I came off the ride looking like I'd wet myself! Sigh! It was all good, though.

One time, we were at WDW when a hurricane stalled out over Orlando (~15 years ago--can't remember which one, now). It rained for days. On the good side, we got to walk onto virtually every ride--pretty much had the parks to ourselves. OTOH, we felt damp all the time. Like, ALL THE TIME. But, we still had a lot of fun--it's all in the attitude.
