This is probably old, old news to all of you veteran pin traders out there, but I have never collected pins and I don't have a clue! I'm not becoming addicted to pins at this late date, but I would like to have a DVC Member pin. There are some on ebay occasionally but they're selling for higher than I want to pay unless I have to. I just wondered if anyone knew if they're still for sale to us at WDW.

You can usually get them at the resort's store. We have gotten ours at the General Store at OKW. They are your basic DVC logo and it says "Member" on it. You do have to show your card in order to buy. I think the last one we got in March was $8.

You usually have to ask the clerk for them, as they are not on display. As mentioned, they are for members only.

Well, there are different types of DVC &/or Member pins in circulation. Here's what I have in my collection:

DVC Resort pins - You can find these at the Resorts and selected pin carts/displays in WDW and elsewhere (I even found them at HH).

DVC Member pin - You can purchase these at DVC Resort gift shops and selected pin carts (such as the one at BW). They are kept behind the counter and you must show a valid DVC ID card or your Resort card with "DVC Member" printed on it for purchase. There are two styles out in circulation. Both have a white background with DVC logo.

DVC Special Edition pin - These were sent to all current DVC Members to commemorate the opening of the VWL.

DVC CM/sales pin - These have a blue background and gold edge, produced during the Millenium Celebration. In order to get these you must either trade for it, chat with a DVC sales rep who might give you one if you ID yourself as a DVC Member or buy one from a trader. The DVC sales staff will tell you that these pins are not to be traded.

DVC Sand Breaking pin - Produced to commemorate the ground breaking for the new BC Resort.

If I find some pictures to go with these descriptions I'll update the post.

HTF - indicates a hard to find pin. You will have to make a big trade or pay a premium in many cases in order to get this pin.

I got mine at the store inside the BWV by the check-in desk. I was asked to show my member card to get it. I don't think it was $8, though, I thought it was $6 like the other pins (or $6.50)

We tried to get the member pin at the OKW store in May. They were out of them. We filled out a shipping form and they were supposed to send us one when they came in. We never received the pin. Luckily, we were not charged. I will try again in October.

Margie:
Nice job on the pin pictures. We are going down in Oct and will check out the pin and other DVC merchandise availability.

I am surprised to find that the DVC 2000 pin is hard to find. We went on the DVC tour of the WLV in May and there was a whole basket of them sitting on a table. We took one, figured it says 2000, but what the heck. Granted, this was only for DVC members. But we figured it was already May and they still had a lot so it must not be a popular pin. Go figure!
