Where can I buy a *REAL* Louis Vuitton bag?

Myself and my 2 DD's included...when did buying a purse get so crazy???
It seems to have really spiralled in the past couple of years into such a craze?

I have a closet full as do my daughters...Chanel, Coach, LV, Fendi, Juicy you name it. But I still think it's nuts and wonder when I first began thinking that it wasn't!:confused3

No kidding. I went to South Coast Plaza Nordstrom to look for a professional bag (not in style BTW). The one I had in mind retailed for $450 to $550. The sales clerk told me they don't carry low-end bags at that store. Holy cow.

I don't mind dropping dime on a classic bag that will last for years. But on a trendy purse?

I read about LVs on the purse blog mentioned above (it's the only place I could find the Miroir LV) and looked at them on the eluxury site.

And hopefully DH will be buying me a fake soon. :thumbsup2

It's a crime to purchase a fake handbag. And it's not a victimless crime.

I will GUARANTEE you that Macy's does not sell authentic Vitton bags!!!!!!! They sell bags that closely resemble LV, but not the real thing. Like I said, eluxury or an actual LV boutique is the only place to purchase authentic LV merchandise.

So you're telling me that all of the high end department stores in NYC are selling fakes? I find that hard to believe.

The benefit of buying at a LV store is that they have you on file, if you have to exchange/repair or whatever. My aunt was an avid LV fan (until at one store they gave her bad service...she won't buy any more LV bags now!). She gave a purse to my sister that needed to be repaired, my sister took it to an LV store and they replaced it. She gave me a bag as well, and the leather has a small crack in it. When I went to a store, though, they said that if I wanted it fixed, I might as well buy a whole new bag... So maybe it depends on where you go...

DH likes this one style of LV...I forget the style name. I told him that he could buy it for me and then I'll stop carrying the one my aunt gave me (he doesn't really like it).

For the record, I'm not really a purse gal...I'm too lazy to switch all my stuff from one purse to the other! My LV goes with me wherever I do...(well, it won't go to WDW with me, but everywhere else! lol)

It should be a crime to charge that much for a purse. :lmao:

The cost of quality shoes and handbags has become incredibly expensive. For whatever reason, the general public has become enthralled with having the best of everything, but that kind of living comes with a very high price tag. And if a person cannot afford to buy the real deal, there is no justification or entitlement to purchase knock-offs.

Actually..they do. Saks also sells LV.

Actually, according to the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition, it's not a crime to purchase a counterfeit, only to sell it. And I'm pretty sure that the country DH will (possibly) be buying from doesn't have a law against selling them. And DH pays applicable customs on everything he purchases there, so the US is getting a "tax" on the goods.

If you're seriously considering buying an LV, do yourself a favor and visit an LV boutique. It's a buying experience like no other! I treated myself to a monogram canvas Drouot last Christmas. It's one of the better things I've ever done for myself!

US law applies to its citizens regardless of where they may be - i.e. even when you travel. So good luck with that.

Dcgrumpy, I clearly stated that high-end department stores DO carry authentic designer merchandise! Now, I don't know about certain areas of the country......but around here.....Macy's is NOT considered high-end. Of course Saks, Bergdorf, NM, carry and sell these items!

Edited: I posted a couple of times. One was about buying online and the other was about actual stores where one can find authentic merchandise. Sorry about the miscommunication.

OK, if selling fake handbags is against the law, why are so many people allowed to do so on Ebay? I've also walked by many of the fakie stands in NYC, with Police right on the corner and never saw anyone get arrested or anything?

I'd love a Louis, but I'm pretty happy with my Dooney for now :)

And again, it's not a crime to PURCHASE the purses, just to sell them. I'm pretty sure US law does not apply to the folks in the country DH will (possibly) be purchasing from. It IS a crime for DH to buy a bunch, bring them home, and me to sell them on eBay. It is NOT a crime for him to buy one for me.

Face it, you're evil. ::yes::

I'm not sure where people get this idea. It's just silly.

Oh, actually, I do have a guess where this myth may come from. There are certain laws that prohibit you from traveling to certain countries for certain purposes. For example, traveling to a foreign country (think Cambodia) to use underage prostitutes.

But normally the answer is no, US law does NOT apply to you while you are in another country.

Oh my goodness. Someone is actually considereing buying a fake LV. It's the end of the world. ;)

Oh lord I'm evil too! I just bought a fake a few weeks ago in New Orleans. Looks just like the real thing and I got it for a whopping $29 dollars!!!!! Shocked me that he would go that low on the purse but he did!
