Where are you vacationing this year "non disney"

We're getting Cedar Faire season passes for day trips to Cedar Point, Kings Island, and their waterparks. We're about equal distance from both. I debated spending the money, but we'll definitely get use out of them and it's still WAY cheaper than Disney.

We're also doing a roadtrip to Arkansas to pick up my grandmother, and we'll visit Nashville on the way.

Well, I'd really like to try a cruise. We'll see if that works out.... Only if I can find an amazing deal from Boston. We are thinking about going to Niagara Falls for a weekend in August. We have 2 weekend/day trips to Maine planned to see family. Not sure about the holidays. We'll probably go home to VT for either Thanksgiving or Christmas to see the parents.

We did Disney 4 times last year :hippie: so we're trying to go light this year and work on being financially responsible.

We were planning to go to the national parks in Utah until dh's contract for next school year was not renewed. Now we are in a wait and see mode- wait and see if he gets a job and if we get a vacation.
So glad last year was our UK trip and not this year, I'm afraid we would have needed to cancel it. (See...I'm trying to make lemonaide out of lemons!)

We did some major home renovations this year, so we're talking the year off from Disney. :sad1:

We're going camping at Mammoth Cave, KY on our way to a family reunion for DH in Illinois. That's our only "big" trip. We have several overnight/local trips planned as well.

In the meantime, I'm planning planning planning for our Disney trip next year. ;)

Those home renovations sure can dry out vacation money!

Sanibel Island, FL in August. Hot as heck, but it's when we can all take the time to go. :cool1:

Other than that, I'm redoing my whole yard so we can have many "stay-cations" that are easier on the budget. :goodvibes

We are going on our trip to Kelley's Island twice this summer as normal. Also going to Pennsylvania to visit family.

Hi. Have you checked out Vacationstogo.com? They run some amazing deals on cruises especially the 90 day ticker. We thought about one because really, it is cheaper to do that for a week and have the food included than it is for our normal summer trip to Wrightsville Beach. Husband keeps demanding he will not get on a boat in the middle of the ocean. We may be doing one though with the whole family at Christmas (my parents, sisters, etc) so he may get stuck here if he doesn't change his mind because I'm going!!

I should have been more clear on that ; we (as in the kids and I twisting the husband's arm a bit). ;)

China (Shanghia, Bejing, Tibet) in a few weeks for 11 days.

Egypt (Cairo, Giza and a Nile cruise) in November for 10 days.

After 4 trips to Europe, we decided to hit a few new continents this year.

Panama City Beach (Florida Gulf Coast side) at end of May; not sure about October and December dates yet. Taking our first beach vacation with our little ones to see if they like it.

We are still going to WDW in June but we are doing a 7 day cruise in July. This will be the kids' first cruise so if it goes really well we may not go to WDW next year and just do a couple of cruises. We are leaving out of Charleston, SC going to Turks and Caicos, Nassua, and Half Moon Cay private Island. We are driving down a couple of days before the cruise so we can take the kids to Ft. Sumtner and Patriots point. My mom is going with us as well so DH and I can have some time alone. It should be a great trip I can't wait. I hate to say I think I am more excited about the cruise then WDW just because we have been to WDW several times.

We are going to Deep Creek Lake at the end of May, then Tennessee to visit all of my family in July. Although we are doing a Disney cruise/WDW trip in September and I am doing a WDW scrapbook trip in August. ;) We can't go a full year without the MOUSE!!:goodvibes

Next year we are doing a week in Seattle and then a cruise to Alaska.

Wisconsin Dells over the July 4th weekend with SIL & family. Excited to be sharing a Glacier Lodge condo at Wilderness Resort. Will be more special than your basic hotel room!

Family Retreat camp at our church synod's campsite Lake Okoboji, Iowa (in state but still about 3 hours from home). That's in August. My Mom & Dad will be there, possibly my brother's family.

I wanted to go to Gatlinburg and rent a log cabin...I spent my winter snow days on vrbo.com, but that plan has been scrapped/postponed for Wisconsin. We were going to drive, so we'll see how the girls handle 6 hours to the Dells before we try 14 hours to Gatlinburg.

Wow! Each time I read this thread I want to take so many more vacations!
Great vacations everyone! I am currently sitting here going over the vacations that I would like to do, and trying to plan them out over the next 2 years.
I am thinking that the Biltmore Estate may get pushed up to next year, since I am thinking of taking my parents to Lancaster Pa in May (even though we have been there before) and doing a hot air balloon ride!

If anyone has done a hot air balloon ride, let me know what you think about it!

-week is northern michigan w/family at a cottage
-week in gulf shores with friends in condo
-week (no kids) in Caracau diving, in hotel, kids get 2 weeks with granda/grandpa at the beach in SC
