where are u shopping for ur tween?

I'd love to know some affordable places - we need church clothes & winter clothes.

we like Aeropostale for good sales and we like Plato's Closet for designer consignment clothing. We buy jeans at the thrift store since they look exactly the same.

Gap and old Navy are OK

Kohls

I know that it doesn't seem really budget friendly, but I've been doing lots of Limited Too lately. I only buy when I have a coupon and usually when I am earning Too bucks along with and then redeeming the coupons. So, basically I don't usually buy tons at a time. I go in and the girls each have an amount they can spend. I find that if I do this every once in a while, my girls always have enough and I never end up spending an arm and a leg. They do run sales too!

For me it's a great place for my 11 year old for the sizes. She is really tall and in a 14/16. I'm just not ready for her to go to the junior department yet. The things just don't fit right either. She is getting to be about that size, but still very much shaped like a little girl.

I know that in Spring they Limited Too stores are all turning into Justice. Right now they are owned by the same people. Justice is a little cheaper, but the quality isn't nearly as nice. I am really hoping that when they merge, the quality stays nice. We've had good luck with things lately.

This is exactly what we do! :)
If you don't have a Plato's Closet in your area - try to find a decent consignment shop.

My DD is 8 and too "old" for Gymboree and too young for Hollister, Aeropostale, etc....

We've been shopping at Justice :) It's owned by Limited Too but not as $$$$$$$$$$$$

I shop sales/coupons and clearance at Kohls.

I just got some clearance slacks.. 7.49 each for cotton slacks with belts, in black, brown, green, beige, and 2 in denim, light and dark blue. You can't beat that price!! They were originally 35.00!!!

I check the budget boards and got a great deal on the long sleeve shirts from Talbots. I also shop Target. They have some nice things for good prices.

I try to shop clearance and sales when I can. Otherwise I hit discount stores like Value City or Burlingtons.

DD12 has lots of very nice and pretty clothing. She doesn't care if she has a designer label on her butt!!

My DD12 only likes to shop at American Eagle, Hollister and Abercrombie. I try to steer her towards the clearance sections so it's not so bad. American Eagle is just down the street, though, so she's in there all the time and she knows their stock. As soon as something new comes in that she likes she's hounding me for it. Usually I'll split the cost with her if it's more than I want to pay.

DD10 likes the clothes at Target, Justice, Old Navy, Children's Place, and Limited Too. We don't buy at LT too much because they are pretty expensive, but the rest are easier on the wallet. Old Navy and Children's Place sales can be really good- we have a CP Outlet at the mall near us, and they have some real deals there.

I have been lucky so far- DD10 isn't at all into fashion, so I haven't gotten requests for Aeropostal, A&F, or Hollister. There probably isn't anything at those stores she would fit into, anyway- she is a little thing, still wearing girls' size 8 in everything.

Justice - only off the sale rack and always with an additional 20% off coupon.
Otherwise Kohls and Target

Same with my dd12 - I steer close to the clearance racks if I can.

Aeropostale and Limited Too for one outfit each for fall & spring. Otherwise, Steve and Barry's, Goodwill, and the Salvation Army! Oh, and sometimes Target.

So I have questions. This is not a slam purely just questions.
Do you allow your DD's to just pick clothes and then you pay for them or do you give them a budget etc?
Do you teach them to look at price tags or do you not care?
Do you steer clear of brand names or is that a big deal to you and or your DD?

I tell DD - I am willing to spend X and for X I expect to get X
Example: I will spend $100 and I expect 2 pants and 4 shirts

DD looks at price tags, she contemplates a purchase and will say things like "no, I don't love it" and will put it back. Makes me proud :goodvibes

One day I was in Justice with DD and we had this huge stack of clothes. The lady in front of us had 1 outfit. Her 1 outfit was more than my 10 or so shirts, couple of pants, a skirt and some capri's - all off the sale rack and with a coupon. She was amazed, she returned her purchase and made her DD start over on the clearance rack. Her DD was none to happy and the Mom commented to me she had no idea they had such "cute" things on clearance. Might I add that Justice clearance racks are awesome, they are not full of damaged goods or even out of season stuff.

anyway, I was just curious:)

Penney's, Target & Kohls. DD is almost 12 but doesn't really care a bit about what she wears, so she mainly sticks with jeans. My wallet thanks her. :rotfl:

She said she's seeing a lot of girls showing up at school with high heels on lately; I don't remember girls in middle school doing that when I was in school.

I shop mostly at JCPenney's clearance sales, which are incredible if you hit them right. It does mean I need to pick up stuff for the next year, but it works out well. DD takes slim sized pants, and that's about the only place I find them at a reasonable price and quality.

Ltd 2 has slims, but I don't like their clothes at all and I think they are poorly made.

We get most of our kids' stuff at Aeropostile and Kohl's. I can usually find stuff at Aero for next to nothing, a lot less then Target or Walmart even.

Abercombie, Limited Two (though we're getting away from this store as we find the quality not worth the price), Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Gap, Lands End.

My dd is 9.5.

I love Potomac Mills Mall off of 95 in Northern Virginia. There's a Tommy Hilfiger store there that has nice stuff at outlet prices. And if you hit one of their sales?....the prices get even better.

Before they re-designed all their clothing lines a year or two ago, Old Navy's stuff fit DD like a glove. But not anymore - we always just go to the TH *first*.

Limited Too has great sales + always use a coupon.

Clearance racks are our friend.

agnes!
