Where are the summer room discounts?

We are seriously thinking about staying at Universal instead this summer. I am an AP holder and it seems that Disney is not interested in taking care of their repeat customers. The GP codes are out for the year but yet not the AP codes. So what is the advantage of being an AP holder. Its becoming less and less. Sorry for the rambling but I am so annoyed about these discounts. Thanks for letting me vent.

I agree. We are passholders for both Disney and Universal. We are booked in our DVC resort for mid-August, but want to add a couple of cash days. I'm still waiting for AP rates to come out for both parks right now to decide where our August trip will start.

Us too. We are DVC members and have that booked but would like to add days on for cash also. The discount with DVC isn't enough off of the rack rate.

We're planning for mid-June. Hotel and dining availability seems wide open when I check yet no room discounts and haphazardly applied FD. I can accept that pins are random but not when CMs seem to grant them after someone has called a number of times.

Maybe these aren't for your dates but here are some general public discount room only reservation codes that need to be reserved by March 27, 2011.

Finally I also have an Annual Pass and I agree that WDW should have announce more days with the Annual Pass discount, instead of trying to push Free Dining on everyone. Guests who purchase Annual Passes are telling WDW they are returning and it would be nice to get the discounts announced a lot earlier so we can plan our days and etc.

i agree! where are the july discounts! i told a CM that we would cancel our trip if we don't get a pin or discount... but in reality we probably won't. we are booked at pop but really would prefer to stay at a mod. i'm surprised that disney doesn't have good summer discounts this year, in my opinion the economy is still lousy.

Add me to the list too. I need to call later, just have to psych myself up to jump through the prompts, hoops, only to be told "nope" like they always do.

If I had an AP, I'd be furious right about now. Not all AP holders are locals who can plan trips last minute. For those AP holders who need to fly, the way they do things is just another layer of stupidity on Disney's part.

Its a good thing the parks and resorts themselves are so wonderful, because if they sucked as bad as the reservation process, what would be the point?!

haha well put! we are booked at pop and i see you like riverside... we want to upgrade to riverside or french quarter, which do you prefer?

Add me to the pissed off & generally annoyed crowd. :guilty: We are booked (at rack rate :scared1: ) at the Beach Club for 6/17-6-25. DH told ODS a long time ago that we'd go to Disney for his birthday (6/19) & school does not let out til 6/16, so we are pretty rock solid with our dates.

I was soooooooooooooooo hoping for some kind of discount, have been watching since last fall & still nuthin'. Heck with a discount of some kind I might be inclined to upgrade our ressie, either club level or dlx dining, depending on type of discount, so it's not like I'm gonna spend a whole lot less, I just want more for my (husband's :rotfl: ) hard earned dollar!

1) AP's are a discount on park visits, and any room discounts are an added perk that is NOT guaranteed. Being pissed about not getting room discounts is ridiculous.

2) New AP discounts came out today, for May 20 to June 12, 2011. Why it's not already posted on this site, I don't know.

Are you a member of AAA because with them you can get 10-20% depending on the resort and time of year. Now I realize it's not as good as the 35-40% discounts, however that's better then nothing.

i think you just answered your own question....

Discount on park visits? I suppose when we go to WDW on our AP's Disney loses money on us? Hmmm, perhaps I should just eat outside of the parks since I'm costing them money by eating and shopping inside the parks.

It's OK, this weekend we are going and the room rates onsite were too high ($150 a night) so for the first time in more than a year, when we go we are staying offsite. A couple weeks ago we stayed at Pop for $55 a night, which IMO is a good deal. Since we rarely use the bus system because we have free parking, staying at Disney does not get us much.
Our room offsite is $51 a night. I guess Disney making $55 a night meant they made no money from us with our AP. So, this time they don't have to worry about not making money from our two night stay.

Count me in the waiting camp.

We are booked with DVC points from June 19-24, but want to do a cash night on the 18th. I would really rather prefer to stay on site for that first night, but I can find off site for a steal.

Waiting also and annoyed. Want to book this trip already. Have had air fare booked since November for my June/July trip. Got good price on air, so booked it. But still don't have resort booked. Want AP rate so can add deluxe dining.
and as someone else mentioned, not all AP holders are local. Many truly need to plan well in advance, book air fare. We planned on going for spring break in April... well, in September looked at airfare and said eh, will wait a couple weeks to book it. Then early October hit and nope, prices were now sky high and never went down, kept going up and up. So missed my window of opportunity to book air for a spring trip - just saying, you need to book in advance, decide on your dates - and sure isn't easy when there are no Ap rates coming out. And good thing I wasn't able to book air for April - as now that AP rates for that time frame FINALLY came out - ugh, it's blacked out for when I would have gone.

Even for November coming up... going with friends. They desperately want CBR, got Pin for 35% off. Fine. They are booked - we're not. Want to stay at same resort as them, but desperately need our deluxe dining - and can't book as no AP rate to book yet. I know, it's still too far out to expect Nov AP rates. Just wish they'd come out earlier with them. Even if just released X amount of rooms with AP rates here and there, would be something.

The advantage really has always been discounted park admission- no guarantees of any other perks. I don't think it's a question of Disney not being interested in taking care of repeat customers as many people who book the GP discounts are also repeat. It's a matter of maximizing revenue for the Company. I know that's not what you wanted to hear. :-(---Kathy

I agree, but I DID cancel my reservation. It about killed me, but Disney resort prices have just about priced us out. I have a strict vacation budget and I am sticking to it, and without a discount, Disney is no longer in my budget. I can't believe I am so upset about it, but it is what it is. We always say we need to broaden our kid's horizons, I guess this might be the year that we actually do it! LOL!

Um...actually...yes. Annual passes are PARK passes, not room passes. I am very grateful for any additional perks/discounts but don't think it's 'my right' to get them.

And, yes, I'm hoping for a great discount for the fall but will go regardless and know that I will go with or without it. (Of course, we're ONLY staying at the GF because DH is getting a GREAT convention rate there...MY solo portion will be at the POP.)

I guess we just got spoiled with getting the discounts. AP holders are usually people that go 2 or more times a year. I went 3 times last year. If it wasn't for the discount I probably would have only went once. So the discount definately comes in handy. I guess I will try and be patient and wait a little while longer. Keep my fingers crossed and hope my days come up.
