Where are all the men?

??? It hardly makes sense.
I think it makes plenty of sense. Many kids would go up to them and say mommy that doesnt look like finn. Because they know what finn looks like (Its not like any of these characters have masks or face paints to help hide it a bit) They dont know what cinderalla looks like in real life. They have no reference for that because she is a cartoon. And finding one person who looks like rey is great but you think disney can find 10 that want to work for what disney pays and the insane hours they would have to work[/QUOTE]

Umm...Then how does having a M&G with Mary Poppins work? With a little make up you can make it look pretty darn close if you wanted. Just saying

Wow! I didn't think anyone still believed that made up stat! That has been proven false by numerous studies. Just do a quick google search!

Washington Post (hardly a right-wing publication) gave the "79 cents"'stat 2 pinnochios (aka a bold-faced lie)
I got that straight from the DOL's website as I already said...so yes by all means quote washington post on it. I didn't say I believed it or didn't believe it. I was saying what the U.S. Department of Labor's statement on it.

It wasn't awesome, it was very expensive to get a quick photo op with a few dark side characters or jawas, most not even the big names. On top of that, it wasnt a buffet so even if you wanted to eat your money's worth you couldn't.

It wasn't a buffet but it was AYCTE. Everyone around me was ordering seconds and our server (one of the best we've ever had at Disney) offered to bring seconds without being asked.

Yes. Charming was out wandering a while back and had a constant crowd with him.

There are plenty of people who won't recognize the princes, and there are plenty who call every prince "Prince Charming"
But there are also far too many people who call Elliot "Puff" during the electrical parade, yet Disney keeps him and Pete there.

We have seen in the parks
Aladdin
Naveen
Hiro
Bert
Peter Pan
Gaston

Prince Charming at 1900 Park Fare

Naveen was one of the best interactions ever, really sad he will no longer be appearing on a regular basis.

I was sad when they took Flynn out. They have tried twice now to have Flynn and sadly people just can't handle his smolder! The first time they took him away because the wait time was double and triple with Flynn then with out. Then they tried having roaming Flynn since he is in the parade and would need to get paid a full shift anyways. Sadly the roaming Flynn didn't last. I'm shocked that the princes aren't around more simply because of the fact they are in the parades. They still have to get a full shift even if they are only in the parade (or at least 4 hours I believe) so they are on the clock in entertainment somewhere. Why not use them in meet and greets?

Right now male face characters I can think of not outside a park are

Aladdin (MK and sometimes Epcot)
Peter Pan (MK)
Gaston (MK)
Tarzan (sometimes MK and sometimes AK)

On the Star Wars issue it was actually not Disney. I believe Lucas was granted some sort of rights to character integrity so asked that face characters not be shown and more and that Disney's characters not be mixed with SW characters. That is why no more face characters (except those that have heavy make up). Not sure how much truth is in that but it si what I keep hearing.

So, I got curious and I tallied up the characters available (face and fur) for meet & greets in the parks/resorts, using Kenny the Pirate's list as a guide. I excluded characters that meet only at the hard ticket events or at the Epcot Training spots, and didn't count Jawas or Storm Troopers, as they could be either male or female. The total? 51 male, 34 female. To me, that indicates that the real problem isn't a lack of male face characters, but that Disney properties are so dominated by male characters that the prevalence of females in this one slim category sticks out.

They discontinued the Jedi Mickey meal because they no longer want to mix the fab five with Star Wars. I wouldn't be surprised if a character meal like the Galactic Drive-in at the Sci-Fi Drive-in from SWW starts up again when the park expansion is complete. That was strictly Star Wars villains and it was awesome.
We were able to go to both the SW Breakfast at Sci-Fi and the Jedi Mickey dinner at H&V last year and they were AWESOME! I'm so sad to see those go. Hoping they come up with some equally awesome ideas when the new expansion comes!

One of the most fun characters we met was Prince Naveen. He went into this whole thing about different kinds of cheeses when the photographer said, "Say cheese" and the kids (and parents!) loved it! So glad we got the chance to meet him!
