Where are all the Louisiana WDW lovers? UPDATED 1ST POST WITH DATES!

Hey everybody

We are in Morgan City LA. We are planning our first trip as a family in 2010. This will be the first trip for DW and our 2 DD currently 2 and 4. This will be my 4th trip over the past 30 years the last time I went was about 17 years ago so ALOT HAS CHANGED. I have been really excited about planning the trip reading Disboard everyday to look for tips and ideas while at the park, so thanks everybody

You're in the right place to gather as much info as you need!!:goodvibes

Hi, all! We're in Broussard, LA!! We're going Sept 5th through 12th.

It's so cool to see where everyone is from...

I was born in Morgan City, grew up in Patterson, college in Lafayette, now live in Broussard, and work in Charenton.

DH grew up on the West Bank, went to Jesuit, college in Lafayette!! :cool1:

I am still debating whether or not to book with SW. When the prices were released last week, I was hoping the fares for November would be cheaper ! :lmao:

So, I don't know if I should book now, or wait to see if the price falls. But I'm also worried that some flights might just fill up - seeing as we're travelling Thanksgiving week.

Oh well! I'll figure it out! ;)
I suggest booking ASAP. Costs usually go up, and especially with the price of gas these days.

How have I missed this thread for so long?!

I live in Thibodaux, and we're going to WDW the week of Mardi Gras 2009 (FEB 21-MAR 1).

We try to go to WDW at least once a year (since our boys were 2 1/2 years old). We always drive, leaving around 3am, and arriving at ASMovies around 3-3:30pm. We usually try to go in January due to low crowd levels, but now that the boys will be starting Kindergarten we'll have to go during Mardi Gras, like the rest of LA. I'm a little nervous about crowd levels...but I know we'll have fun no matter what.

We live in Thibodaux too! Mardi Gras will be crowded but at least President's Week is the week before, so it won't be crazy crowded.

Cool!:cool1: A Louisiana thread! I am from Quitman (close to Jonesboro & Hodge). We are going on our first trip to Disney August 3. I am super excited! I have stayed up way past my bedtime reading the Disboards, so I guess I better go to bed!

we got nonstop there on Delta and layover in Atlanta on way back for a little over $200.....what days are you going? we are leaving Thursday 11/20 at 1:45p NO time and getting there 4:45 Orlando. leaving late on Thanksgiving nite but not to worried about getting home fast! although less than an hour layover in ATL...hope we can make it!

www.farecompare.com is a nice website - it projects best times to buy and gives you a lot of prices from a lot of sites...

FLY SW...lol...we are going 8/23 and we got a direct flight from New Orleans and it was 141.00 round trip

Thanks for the great advice :lovestruc . I checked out farecompare.com for our dates (departing Sun 11/23 and returning Sat 11/29) and there were no nonstop flights and the cheapest was about $300 pp. Southwest has nonstop flights but the cheapest left is $174 pp each way. I think part of the problem is we're not traveling mid-week and traditionally Thanksgiving week is the most traveled week of the year.

So, we've pretty much made the decision to drive. I'm okay with that...we've done it before. I'll keep checking to see if we luck out and the fares go down. Or perhaps we'll get a good ding from SW ;) .

Very cool to hear from somebody who lives nearby. My husband has family in Jonesboro and his brother works at Weyerhauser.

If we would have left one day earlier (19th) and come home a day earlier (26) it would only be around $175...sigh. But now they have this stupid law that if your kid is excused more than 5 days the parents can get fined....but we bought non refundable tix way before that was enacted
