When you walk into someone's office

and they are on the phone, what do you do? Me? I leave and come back later. I find it very rude to stand there in the doorway until the person gets off the phone. I also find it rude to see the phone up against someone's ear and just start talking to them. This happens to me at least three times a day  Unless the building is on fire, go away until I'm off the stinking phone :furious: Thank you...carry on :teeth:

And lets add, if the door is closed and I am on the phone (you can see me through my window!) dont come in. You dont barge into someones office if the door is shut, I maybe shut my door 2x a month so take the hint. I reservethe right to give you a VERY snarkey "EXCUSE ME!" If you dare to enter.

For the record, I leave and come back if you are on the phone. I think its rude to start talking to someone who is on the phone.

Oh yeah...I forgot about the shut door  They bang on it and ask if I'm in there? :confused3

Me? I leave and come back--or wave if they see me so they'll come check with me afterward.

Now I caught one of my co-workers standing outside someone's door, very obviously listening to her telephone conversation. I asked him what the heck he thought he was doing and he told me he was waiting for her to get off the phone. I suggested he wait at his desk instead of listening to her conversation.

This is the same guy who will answer the phone, ask who is calling, then transfer the call and not tell the recipient who is on the line. I caught him doing it the other day and told him to either pass on the information or quit asking. We answer the main phones for our office so this is legitimate information--you transfer the call, telling the person who it is. You don't just ask because you're nosey.

Me, I tell them to hang up now, my time is more valuable than yours and if I need to speak to you, it has to be now.
