When you 'slip-up' one day........

My biggest problem is that if I go off my WW points one day, usually I find that I don't get back on track and I say "oh well, the rest of the week doesn't matter now." Does anyone have any tips for not having that attitude? You would think that I would be really motivated with a wedding coming up, which I was this past month, but the last two weeks were really bad. I just didn't care. The weekends are especially hard for me. I allow myself to go out to dinner on Friday nights and to eat breakfast at work that someone has brought in on Friday mornings (we take turns), but for some reason on Saturday and Sunday I just find that I'm busy and don't want to think about points and just want to eat all the good food I love that isn't good for me. If I could be as good on Friday through Sunday as I am Monday through Thursday I would be doing really well. I just can't find the secret to doing it. I just joined this group yesterday, so I'm hoping that will help. Other than that, does anyone have any tips at all?

Other than this........No. BUt I have to say I come on this site eveyday. It is my home page.........Look through this site and see all of the success stories. The one who has inspired me has been "party of six" her WISH member name. The first nught I came on I saw her pics. The thing is is that I started my diet around the same time she did. Then I stopped and went back to my old ways. By the time I found this site and read her story saw her pics. I thought to myself had I not ditched the diet I may be where she is today. I have read other stories on here and these folks are great. Very inspirational. I am extreme myself. If I have a bad day I just throw in the towel and go for it the whole week. My attitude has always been like that all or nothing type of thinking. AHHHHH the hell with it I had a big "wrong dinner" may as well have the dessert. Anyway. this new way of living is done on a daily basis. For instance I screwed up bad the other night. I have been staying up late watching the World series and about midnight I ate and just pigged! A few montsh back I may have said the next morning o well guess I start again next Monday where are the donuts. Not at all now. The next morning I got up and got back into my good habits. Take it one day at a time. Its a daily process not a weekly one. good luck

Try not to think in terms of good and bad. If you label certain foods as bad or tell yourself that you've been bad for eating more than your target points for the day then you're just defeating yourself mentally.

Try to challenge yourself to one weekend where you DO count points. Just one weekend. Eat like you normally do through the week (in your point range) and then be prepared for the weekend. Plan your weekend menu out ahead of time. Allow yourself a small treat (WW no sugar added Moose Tracks ice cream is really great!). Stay within your points, use a few flex points, and try a new WW recipe.

Do you like shrimp? A half pound of steamed shrimp is only 4.5 points. If you can find some things to eat that are low in points but seem decadent, then that will help you through the weekend.

I'm telling you, once you get through ONE weekend staying within points you will feel so great. It's a wonderful accomplishment. Then the next weekend you'll be better prepared to do it again because you've already done it once.

I fully believe in having a cheat meal once a week. Maybe for a little while you can skip the Friday breakfast that the office has (you can bring your own breakfast in and still socialize). Then on Friday night if you want to go out for dinner have a little conversation with yourself before you order. What will you feel better about after the fact; staying within points or having a meal that puts you way over your points?

It just takes a small adjustment on your part to get through the weekends. You know you can do it! Pick a weekend and challenge yourself to stay within your point range and on Monday morning you will feel so proud!!! :)

Good luck!:wave2:

with you girlfriend!! I sabotage my WW plan usually about once a week and I have yo-yo'ed the same 4-5 lbs since July!! I just get down on the low end of that yo-yo range and then I slack in my mind and POOF! i'm back up to the higher end. Then I feel so guilty and disgusted with myself b/c it was totally NOT worth it!

I think I'm getting a little closer to the right thinking to avoid this pattern - but just wanted you to know you are not alone. Reading this thread helped me alot to know that I am not alone!

If you have days that you don't count your points, try to be aware of your portion sizes, that's what I do. Like today, I have a 9 - 1 p.m. meeting at church that will include lunch. Usually people bring casserole type dishes and I have no idea what's in it. I don't want to skip it, that is not making this work as a lifestyle. So I size in my mind what I would think of as a portion and take about half of it. I know that for me, portion size was a key contributor to my past weight gains.

I do agree with TigH that surviving a weekend OP (on plan) is very very motivating and when I can do that I feel great going into the next week.

PD and {{{HUGS}}} to you Marshmelo and to all of us that battle with this type of decision making and self-control. Remember we ARE worth this!!:grouphug:

Take it one day at a time, one hour at a time, even one minute at a time. Forget about the past and focus on the right now. Come to WISH and ask for support if you need it.

Offer support to others, too, every chance you get. It is so motivating to do that.

Most of all, believe in yourself. All of your WISH friends believe in you, you need to believe in yourself!

You can do this, I know you can.
