When you go through your bank drive-thru...

Tubes is hard to use. The tubes need instructions on how to use them. I have sometimes spent 10 minutes on how figure out how open the darn thing.

When I go to the bank with my boss to deposit money, we have to use the first lane (even if we have to wait foreverrr ). It's the only line they allow business deposits.

If I'm going to the bank for myself, I'll use the tube-y things.

At my bank, it seems like they have one teller assigned to the push window and, frequently, one teller assigned to ALL of the "tube" lanes. As a result, it usually is faster to use the push window lane even if the line is longer. I also think the whole back and forth in the tubes makes each transaction at those lanes take a bit longer, so if all lines are of equal length I will go to the push window vs. the tubes. I'll also use the push window if I have lots of change to send through.

I would not, however, get in line at the push window if there are open tube lanes (except for the change thing noted above).

Ok...apparently we have the super easy tubes here.

1) I take out the cylinder and put my check, money, etc, in.

2) I put the cylinder in the tube and press the green button.

3) The little cylinder goes flying away. I wait a few minutes and it comes flying back with my money, deposit slip, etc. in it.

4) I drive away.

My bank doesn't even have a drive-through lane at the tellers now. That's the ATM lane.

Hmm.. maybe.
At our branch, I'm the only "drive-thru" teller. They're all my lanes.
The inside, lobby, girls help if they're not busy.. but all outside lanes are *mine*...
The tubes can definitely be annoying if you don't have what you need... like, people who need deposit tickets. and want cash back and don't send their ID.. it's the back and forth that kills things but it is the same at the window, just a smidge quicker as I don't have to keep opening tubes and such.

All the talking of these tubes reminds me of that car insurance commercial when someone is at the tube teller and a kid inside the bank is putting strange things into the tube. Then they are swooshed out and hit the drivers side door. A sandwich with lots of mustard, a roll of quarters, a coffee much with pencils. Its pretty funny.

i always use the window - not because I don't like the tubes...would actually prefer that lane, but the teller at the tubes is the s-l-o-w-e-s-t person in the world. I swear she must only process about three customers a day. Drives me crazy! :badpc:

First of all, don't flame me. I'm not complaining.. just trying to understand!!

I am a teller... and my office has been trying to figure out WHY people wait in line to go to the first window, but avoid the tube lanes?

I'm the 'push' window teller, so I get the line. Doesn't bother me, as we're slow and it's something to do... but...
It was 4pm and I had SIX cars in the line, with the other two completely empty and two other tellers just standing behind me with nothing to do.

We are perplexed by this. Why? Why would you wait for 5 other people when you could go to another lane and be done in about 3 minutes?

Anyone able to explain this to me?

I like to use the lane closest to the window so that I can see the teller from my vehicle. It's more personal. The other lanes are like talking to a tube with a voice.

I am afraid of the tube. Seriously, I have never gone in that line and I do not know how to use it.

I was going to post the exact same thing. I laugh so hard every time I see that commercial!! :rotfl:

Our bank only has one lane - a window lane. I either use that or the ATM (which is in the same lane as the teller window). If I go inside, it's usually only to see my aunt (she's the bank's manager) for something unrelated to banking. ;)

Michelle :flower3:

Some of the banks here only have tube lanes, so then what whould those people that are afraid of tubes do :confused3

My pet peeve with drive thru banking is the people that wait until it is their turn to get their deposits ready when they have been waiting in line for 15 minutes already! Get your stuff ready while you are waiting so when it is your turn all you have to do is put your stuff in the tube!

I've never used the window. I always thought that was for commercial. But I am, Piecey, guilty of going home with the tube multiple times on accident. But, I do return it the next day, and get a laugh out of the tellers!!! And get a laugh myself!

Ok I go inside most of the time so I have no answer as to why people are afraid of the tubes.

But I want to tell people that, although your bank might be different, at my bank the drive though speaker picks up EVERYTHING going on in your car.

So take that how ever-just thought I'd let people know;)

when we first got to Illinois after living in California.. where it was rare to find a teller at the drive up window... all ATM's at the drive thru. We were amazed to see live people at the bank drive thru and the tubes.... well.. they blew my teen age children away! LOL They had never seen anything like it in California.
I thought they were easy to learn and use. I did not know that the live teller was the business lane. Hec, if there is a choice I like using the live teller vs the tubes for making deposits that I wish to have cash back. ... but I will choose the ATM first if I am doing a with drawl. Btw... I also go to the live teller because it is easier to correct mistakes face to face. and yes everybody makes mistakes... these folks have made quite a few.....

Anyway. At my current.. normal bank.... we can't hear you unless you can hear us. I hate when people pull up and start talking and get mad because I have no idea what they say. Unfortunately, it's not like a baby monitor... I can only hear you when I hit the button and you can only hear me when I hit it, too.

That's how my bank is (I'm a teller too).

BUT- if I turn the button on to listen to you, you can't really tell... So, we have heard our fair share of spousal griping! ;)

People crack me up- I have seen and heard the funniest things since working at the bank. One lady came through the drive-up with no pants. :scared: And all day every day people MUST mistake my teller window for the confessional booth at church. It is amazing the amount of personal information people can divulge in the time it takes me to cash a check or make a deposit. :upsidedow

I :cloud9: the tube -fast and fun- though I _do_ have trouble opening it sometimes.:scared: Once I saw the teller laughing at me... :lmao:

and yes everybody makes mistakes...

PSA- This is very true! We are human, and yes, mistakes do happen- as much as we try to avoid them; so count your money when we send it back to you! Look at your receipt!

(PSA over.) :goodvibes

Usually I say Hi to the teller then roll my window back up. I'm not being rude it's just too damn cold most of the time. :rotfl:

Interesting thread.

I usually just put my deposit in the tube and drive off. I have done my banking at this bank since I was in grade school. (Back in the day that every Wednesday you would take money to school and someone from the bank would be there to accept your deposit). If I need cash I just drive up to the ATM.

I also sometimes play my radio loud and sing. And, have caught myself, thinking the entire bank is listening.
