when you do an add on does it change the deed?

I have been thinking of adding on to my mom & childrens membership and was wondering if I would be a member if I paid for the add on points or does the whole deed have to be redone? This way DH doesn't have a finger in it! Ha! Always more than one way to skin a cat!

:D  :) :D

I would think you would either have to redo the deed to include yourself or purchase your own points(150) minimum, in order to be a DVC member.

An add-on is an extension of an existing deed. If you are already a member, an add-on can be for as few as 25 points.

If you are not a member, you will need to purchase a minimum of 150 points if buying through Disney directly.

If others in your family are members, they would have to have you added to their deed and then any additional points purchased would be "added" onto that membership.

Good Luck!

I always assumed the add ons through DVC were technically separate deeds. I suspect one could get them to redo the deed at the time of add on to reflect the total amount. It's good to have the points separate though in case you decided to sell part but not all. I'm sure the add on deed would have to be the same exact registration as the master contract. I'd definitely ask DVC Member Administration on this one to get a difinite idea of your options. If they say you have to redo the first deed yourself, that could be done for as little as about $120-150 I would expect (deed prep plus recording) or if you were comfortable, you could do up the deed yourself, I'm sure DVC can give you all the addresses and amounts for recording.
