When worlds collide~the original flats meet in 4D!!

We always have a fake tree now since the cats brought down the real tree several times one Christmas. I can totally sympathize with your story!

we survived 2 christmas' with puppies and 2 kittens.....It would have been easier to have a bunch of toddlers around.

I love the tree story! We have a fake tree too. We've had one for every Christmas except 2. DH finally caved one Christmas back in the 90s and bought a real tree. I was so excited, finally a real tree. We came home from Mass to find that he had flocked it! I wanted a real "green" tree not a flocked one.

Morning Winkers!!!
Good Mor.....afternoon rosie!

:rotfl2: I always wanted a flocked tree growing up,but d.jay said no way.

They make a MESS! I've never had one but my sisters bday is on the 6th. Every year for her bday they go pick out the tree and my nephews can pick whatever they want.

one year it was Turquoise Flocked!

I kid you not.

They choose flocked about 1/2 the time, not sure what they ended up with this year.

Which is also harder to hang the ornaments on!

:rotfl2: That was the best Christmas tree story ever!!

Our tree is a small potted tree that we got when ds was born. We got it so DS couldn't get at it. 5 years later we still have the same tiny little tree. Now that our new living room is finished, we will be able to have a full sized tree next year!! I was too exhausted this year to get one. So we are calling this Christmas the "say bye-bye to the little potted tree" Christmas.

Well we have gone from Chonies on one thread to trees on Winkers ,:lmao:Another is full of poofing !!!:rotfl2:and I still haven't found the Dang Hot Italian !!!:rotfl2:

I don't t;hink I'd give the decision to my kids....although I noticed a pink tree at walmart today...it would look cute with brown and gold ornaments....I think d.jay would kill me.

I felt like I could have been in christmas vacation....I wasn't laughing that night...

We didn't put up a tree this year since we're leaving the week before and the remodel..the only decorations I have up are a few on the mantel...it feels wierd.

ummmmm....I guess I better stick with the traditional green......I'm not how I'd explain a pimp tree to our neighbors.

What a great story!

I can laugh at it after the water fiasco at my house.

poor broken balls

Oh dear...that sounds

:rotfl:

I look in on this thread and this post is at the top of the page.

Now I definitely have to go back and find out what you're referring to in that story.

On a different topic....winkers, I enjoyed a 1 1/2 hour band concert last night :faint:

DD22 is going to graduate from college with her violin performance degree this spring, but she came up through the ranks of the school strings programs. As we would sit through the "beginning strings" group's performance during the twice a year concerts of all the groups (older elementary through high school), I used to fervently pray blessings on the head of the poor woman whose job it was to teach those 11 and 12 year olds to squawk out "Jingle Bells" and "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel" every fall semester and "She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain" every spring. :faint:

That poor woman. I'm a music teacher myself (piano), so my heart always went out to her!

Okay, I've gone back and read the story and understand the reference now. We have a live (I should say "cut", I guess) tree this year after many years of using an artificial one. So far, so good. I made sure it was straight before I brought it into the house. I may post a couple pictures on my PTR when I get a chance.

The concert wasn't too bad. Much better than a year or two ago when there were a couple of songs that looked like they weren't going to make it through -- everybody getting lost, a couple of people holding it together, and the band leader feverishly directing away.

I can see how that sentence could make you wonder!

did you enjoy all 90 minutes?

there is a special place in heaven for band teachers....it probably has padded walls..
Hunter's 6 grade band played jingle bells so slow it sounded like a funeral march.

middle school concerts are very interesting! I never knew the chickend dance could be messed up untill a few years ago.

One word....

TIMBER.........
:rotfl2:
smarty pants

Maybe you'd like to repost them , possibly at this point might take anything :lmao::lmao::lmao:

:rolleyes1

It's been a crazy day! I had to pack for 6 along with all our christmas presents....I don't know how santa does it.
I went to a christmas concert, delivered presents, cleaned, picked out tile for the kitchen and ran taxi service for the kids. And I'm still not done.

We're leaving early morning for our 11 hour drive to my Mom's. It may be more like 13 because of the roads.

I'm so excited to spend christmas with my family, it's been 15 years since I was "home" for christmas. I think my family is as excited as I am.:goodvibes

I'll be checking in while I'm gone, two weeks is along time. I don't want to have withdrawls.

LOL! Evan took a small gift for his band teacher in today, only one other child did, which makes me sad! There is a special place for band teachers!

We had a minor panic attack last night, thought there was a 5th grade concert today due to a principal phone call...Principal was wrong, it was only 6th.

Praise be to God.

Drive safe and HAVE FUN!

How'd I get that far behind? glenbbo - I could def create my own wind ensemble. :lmao: Winkers, the tree story had me cracking a gut. Ours lost a few key pieces of hardware this year and the dog keeps knocking it around, but so far it's still upright.

All the dementia postings had me smiling and sad at the same time. My great grandmother (who turns 102 in January) has pretty well lost all concept of reality. The stories we hear about her are both humorous and depressing at the same time. (Last week she told us the nurses had dropped her off in the woods and she had to find her way back.) One thing that is interesting though is that a few weeks ago she asked my mom where my Uncle Steve was. (He passed away a few years back.) When my mom replied she hadn't seen him in a while, my great grandmother told her that he always comes to see her everyday and sits and talks to her to keep her company. Something about it just gave me goosebumps.

Have a great trip Cherie! AND a fantastic Christmas!
