When will your Christmas tree go up?

We have allergies so fake trees for us. We put a 9-foot real looking one that has pine cones attached to the branches in the family room and a 7 foot dark purple one in the library. The purple one is decorated with brass ornaments from our travels. Before COVID I was planning to get a white one for our patio. We have a big outdoor fireplace with a sectional in front. When we entertain in the winter, we like to light a fire in that fireplace and have people enjoy it outside while drinking hot drinks. I thought the Christmas tree decorated with outdoor ornaments in the colors of our outdoor decor would be a nice touch.

It's a challenge though getting help though with the trees because the kids are more interested in setting up the LEGO Christmas village on the dining table. I try to entice them with hot chocolate, fresh baked cookies and Christmas music.

will you adopt me? Holidays at your house sound wonderful.

Every year for the past few years, when the holidays are over, we wrap our fake, pre-lit, fully trimmed tree in several big sheets to protect all the ornaments, secure sheets with big binder clips and store it in a back room until it's "unveiling" next season.

Haven't taken down ornaments in years, other than those I use to decorate other areas of the house. Is that cheating? I dunno...and don't care. It's blissfully easy: i have a beautiful, fully decorated tree without any effort. :rotfl:

But I do put a lot of time into other areas of decor, so this just saves me one step.

It's fun to decorate. Removing decorations is really depressing. My SO and I argue every year about who is going to take them down. One year we both decided to leave them up. I actually enjoyed having my Christmas tree up and decorations up year round. I got a lot of strange reactions when I had people visit. I definitely got weird expressions from repair folk. I told them that Christmas is awesome, and that there is no reason we shouldn't be happy year round. Obviously, I had to take down my outside decorations because I live in a HOA. But that didn't mean I had to take down the ones inside my home. It's really cool to turn off the lights and see Christmas lights. I really cheers me up. There is no reason why I can only feel this way in December.

I think lights and outdoor decor is going to be really important this year!

I think we're going to see a lot more outdoors decor this year - everyone is so hungry for a little childike joy and cheer this year. I see it already with halloween decor in my neighborhood at least - way more folks decorating yards and entry ways vs past years.

I definitely would if I could. I definitely believe in the more the merrier during the holidays, except this year. We usually invite friends over for Thanksgiving dinner who don't have somewhere to go. When it's friends from another country, it's extra fun to see their responses to the food. Christmas Day is usually just family but we often invite friends over to decorate cookies, enjoy the LEGO village, etc.
The weekend after Thanksgiving. We have never been "Black Friday" shoppers and especially this year, so I like taking my time and starting on Friday so I still have the weekend before I have to start back to work! I LOVE long weekends!!
I used to enjoy hitting the stores on Black Friday with my DH but the last few years it hasn't seemed worth it because the deals haven't been there. I still do some online shopping.

Fake trees. I used to have a theme/color scheme every year when my kiddos got older. So MATCHY MATCHY...

Not now, I try to decorate in the Whoville style. NO breakables because I have six grandchildren ages 2,3,4,6,6,and 7 . The ornaments vary greatly. I have some solid balls, plastic icicles, etc but the "ornaments" are mostly picked by my grandchildren. We have accumulated over 250 ornaments. I can't tell you how many times my tree in the living room gets rearranged. The tree has lights that can be set to multi or just clear and they can be solid or blink in varying patterns.

I would LOVE to put my tree up on November 1st , but I may have to wait until the weekend before Thanksgiving because my husband thinks it is too soon. But, if it is up when he gets home from work in early November then it will just be a pleasant surprise (since I won't be asking him to help me-it is 9 feet tall and huge!-I LOVE IT!)

I just checked the calendar-it's definitely going up November 7 🎄🎄

Greatest idea ever! Lol.

We pick out our tree after my birthday, which is early in December. Looks like it'll be the first Saturday of December this year. We decorate but that's usually when my husband decides that he's ready -- Christmas is more so his thing (even though tree picking got tied to my birthday out of convenience).

Drove by a Griswold like house in Ma that was fully lit up for Christmas like a wishful beacon of hope and it was glorious! I was inspired and ordered red ribbon and red lights to turn my porch posts into candy canes, I also got extra lights to make sure my lighted wreaths will be ok. All my shopping for food and gifts is done, at least as much as I could. There may be mayhem but there will also be cookies.

As for the tree, I am thinking that I can sneak up all my decorations as soon as soon as Halloween is over and that no-one will say anything about the indulgence because this year has been so icky. I have 2 trees, one is a Disney tree and one is a normal tree. The Disney tree hasn't been up in a few years since people who don't live here gave me a hard time for it once I couldn't say it was for the kids because, well, they were driving, but now that no outsiders will be here I am thinking there will be a Disney Christmas once again.

I want to do this. Problem is, the last time I tried the red ribbon somehow bled onto our white columns. They had to be painted! I don't know what I did wrong. I did look super cute though, while it lasted.
Oh nooo that's awful, I've been doing this a long time where I lay the ribbon then the red lights on top so they light up the same at night but they have never stained, thank goodness. I'll need to test this ribbon before I do it because I usually get the fake plastic velvet kind, and this time I just grabbed what looked ok online and is fabric. You may have just saved me from a mess, thanks!

Real or Fake tree?

Fake. I grew up with an artificial tree, it's just always what we had. The one year we decided to do a real one and it ended up a disaster of needles and sap everywhere and I found a nest of dead baby birds on an inner branch. Never again. We got a new tree last year that has a bunch of different light combinations, but I never have them blinking. I don't like blinking lights.

We always wait until after Remembrance Day which is November 11th.
Usually the weekend after that but this year we will probably start on November 12th.

Maybe I'll just borrow a tree from a neighbor going out of town this year. Then I don't have to fiddle with it.

(Crash)
SPIKE!!!
Don't worry. It wasn't important
Really. What did it say on it?
Baby's first Christmas.
